Home Built + Koolance or Alienware w/Koolance?!

I was considering what would be better idea? As far as I know Alienware has always been a good buy for computers if you wanna pay extra money. But if I wanted to buy a Koolance PC4 water system inside a case bulit by Koolance and by other seperate parts that is about the equivalent of an Alienware computer without any warrenty... What would you all do?

I would definately build, much cheaper than Alienware.

And I wouldn't waste my money on watercooling, with advances in the top of the line air coolers there is zero adavantage to watercooling. Watercooling is much more expensive and adds much risk, and doesn't cool any better than the best air.

I would agree with that...except that it probably does cool a bit better. But not worth the cash difference.

water cooling defineatly cools better then air, but it does have more risk added to it, as well as cost. But you can make a nice water cooling setup for under $100 and it will cool better then any air cooler. If you make the system correctly it should be relatively safe.

I would home build both. Petra's Tech Shop has some great kits - for about $300 you can far exceed cooling that can be done with air. If you're not going to overclock though, there's no point to water cooling.

I've got a Scythe Infinity and it's an excellent air cooler. If you're not planning on giving your chip ridiculous amounts of voltage (compared to what you'd feed it on air) in attempts at ultra-max overclocks, then there really is no point to going to water. But if you DO plan to push 1.6v+ through a chip that runs stock at 1.3v or 1.35v, then you better get water or plan on having an overpriced keychain.

I agreed with everything until the last line...

I do not plan to overclock any of the components but I just heard that if you have a cooler components meant they run faster... so a water cooled system would not run any faster then a air cooled system?

Also I'm doing it for a much more quiet room...

no Cooler components do not run faster inherently

Both dissipate the same amount of heat over time so they will both heat your room the same amount.

Damn the only thing I got going for me is a quiet computer then :-( Well I guess I will resort to air cooling... would a P-180 with 5 yate loons be sufficient cooling?

more than enough. To give you an example: I was able to run my 9800 pro+3200 Athlon 64 1 gig ram through BF2 gaming sessions in a 80 degree house while running in a coolermaster Wavemaster case with 1 case fan, power supply fan and Zalman HSF

thats not true.....sorry.......just buying water cooling parts off th shelf for under $100 will not guarantee you better temps than air cooling!!

You really have to know what your doing and there are only a handful on these forums who have true hands on experience...
while everyone else has an opinion......lolol
