Right now I've got my HT components (TV, Xbox, receiver, CD player, VCR, subwoofer) plugged into a regular outlet strip. Once in a while (like twice so far) there's apparently not enough power, and some of the components shut off, then come back on.

I've looked at the Monster Cable surge supressors / power conditioners for around $80, but I'm guessing they're overpriced. Also, it probably wouldn't help the problem with power cutting out. Has anyone tried a UPS backup with this type of setup? Do you think it would work? Have a different suggestion?

turn the subwoofer down what else could eat up the power if that is the real problem anyway, and some fuse trip in the distribution bar.

Depending on your house/apartment, the best thing to do would be add a deticated circuit to that area. If you do not have much rewiring to do it is very cheap, and not to hard. But,if you dont know how to add a new breaker to the box you should get help.

The dedicated circuit suggestion is a good one. If you have the means, go for at least a 20A circuit rather than the standard 13A. It should be sufficient for even the most demanding of HT components. UPS systems don't really work that well with HT equipment.

My subwoofer runs off a different power outlet across the room. The rest all share a surge protector, but I have blown a fuse still though, once. :)

well, doesn't it? i mean, a wimpy low-power setup isn't going to stress the circuit so much, right?

But listening to Bose as compared to something else less expensive and better sounding would stress me out to no end. Better to spend a bit of money for a line conditioner/power supply than spend alot of money and downgrade your transducers IMO. That's like buying a car with air conditioning because when you go for a walk to the corner store during hot weather you overheat and sweat. Well, that's a waste of money!

Hey, if someone decided to give me a whole Bose system for my comp I wouldn't complain! I would just preface every conversation re: Bose with "I got 'em free! I didn't buy 'em!"
