thanks in advance for people reading this..

I have the original klipsch 4.1 speakers hooked up to my sb live! platinum on my computer.. I recently got a TV; is there any way to hook up sound output from the TV to my computer speakers without buying a separate receiver? I'd really like to be able to use my promedias for movies and stuff... any help is greatly appreciated; thanks!..

if you have composite outs (RCA-out...Yellow, Red and White female plugs) you can patch in an RCA/composite cable and attach a two-female-RCAs-into-one-stereocable. It's like a fork for RCA cables. After that, hook it into your line-in input on the back of your soundblaster and you should be all set.

edit: the yellow plug isn't used for outputting the sound....the red and white ones are, though.
edit 2: on the side of the cable with only end, it's a stereo-style (8mm?) end...not an RCA

yes...the Y cable is what's known as a stereo cable. The two red and white cables are mono. The difference is just an extra tit (for the sake of understanding) on the stereo jack.

You're sure that your TV has audio OUTput? Not that I'm doubting you, I'm just saying since most people don't check first, and most TVs tend to be w/o outputs, only inputs. You'll usually need like a VCR or a cable box to output the sound.

But if you do have them on the TV, you're all set, just do what they said, although since you have the SB Live! Platinum, your breakout box should accept RCAs, so you can just get a regular two-head RCA to two-head RCA cable.

If by "surround sound" you mean being able to use all 4 speakers, then no, you won't be able to. All cable/sattelite audio is 2-channel, and you will need a receiver with Dolby Pro Logic to make use of all 4 speakers with it.
