I don't think the $800 price is that bad, subject to the comments I made earlier. There have been and still are more expensive monitors available, and this one easily stacks up among the very best. Although I guess I would be more willing than most people to pay high prices when it comes to monitors. I consider the monitor to be by far the most important part of a system.
While this monitor does have the best refresh rates available, I don't think it goes quite that high. The bandwidth is not really a limitation with the refresh rates; it's the horizontal scan rate you need to look at. 2560x1600 is actually the wrong aspect ratio here, but it should top out around 80hz or so at that resolution. You could of course try to exceed the manufacturer's rated limits, but I think most newer monitors have overscan protection and may not let you do it.
It would be fun to try doing 2340x1755 (which is 4:3) on this thing. It should be able to hit 75hz at that setting. I find 75hz flickers too much in most cases but it may be acceptable in darker games. Of course, the problem is that almost every video card out there would top out at 65hz at that resolution.
It looks quite bad to me in certain games on my 90GX2. You notice it more in motion than in still pictures.
That CRT is capable of 2560x1600 @85Hz (30" apple/dell resolution, but with better refresh). Just thought I would point that out for all the LCD fanbois
Or 3000x2250 @ 60Hz (requires video card capable of 510MHz pixel clock).
I realize the manufacturer site doesn't list these kind of resolutions. That's because they are fairly non-standard and most video cards don't have them by default, you have to add them with powerstrip or similar utility.

6 bit is fine for gaming. I never notice while I'm playing.
