holy smokes, dell customer service really is topnotch

Its ok. Not great.
I had to order a part for a clients computer. One of those floppy drive dealies with the bracket.
I got through to the parts department eventually. Which turned out to be in Singapore.
Keeping in mind that I speak English, the call took longer than I expected.

It took me around 10 minutes, which is a long time, to just give the kind lady my address.
And she didnt understand that there was more than 2 areas in my country.
Im from New Zealand.

So I tell her my address and the City I live in, and since it wasnt listed on the screen in front of her, she kept wanting to send it to Auckland.... Which is at the top of the country 6 hours drive away. 🙂

Then she sends me a fax which I have to sign.
And shes farked up all the address details.
So I just wrote my full address and faxed it back.

Wouldnt it have been easier to send me a fax and have me fill out my own details??
Its funny now, but at the time I swear I was giving the lady her first English lesson 😉

why do you use so many carriage returns?

I tried to order 2 Poweredge servers from Dell Small Business earlier this year....ordered online, got the acknowlegement, waited a few weeks....nothing. Tried again online - nothing. Called Customer Support to find out what happened, they could find no record of the transactions and no record of my employer, even though we've bought $20k worth of stuff from them over the years. Turns out the rep handling our account quit and our account vanished. Took about 6 calls to find that out. Cannot place new order because our account was still assigned to old rep, and all our info vanishes.

4 more phone calls. New account was created by mistake with Dell Large Business. New rep will not return phone messages or emails regarding my paltry $1000 order. Cannot order from Small Business because account now belongs to Large Business. Large Business rep finally sends email saying she'd be happy to sell me the servers - at almost twice the price quoted from Small Business. It was at that point I became very tired of offering my money to people who didn't want it.

It took all of 15 minutes to order nice IBM units and they were in my office within a week.

Both are crap.

One time my Compaq wifi card stopped working on my Compaq laptop and the networking division kept blaming the laptop division for the problem and vice versa. I never got the problem resolved and ended up buying a new card in the end.

I hate Dell CR. I thought Gateway was good, but they moved their services to India, so that will change....
They all suck now.

Everytime i call dell i cant understand much of what they are saying 😕 and no matter what my problem was, reinstalling windows was always the answer.. lol 🙁

I had to return a Dell DJ mp3 player that I ordered. I emailed them about 8 at night with my request. UPS came to house the next day, picked up the DJ with a label that I didn't have to pay for. Within a week they had credited my card. I couldn't ask for more.

They all suck if they are outide of US borders and some suck inside the borders too. Dell has become too large to be a good company.
