Those flat FD Trinitrons are da bomb.

You can get a few 21" quality tubes for ~$350... But you're talking about a sony tube here.

Too bad it's Canadian, eh?

i'm in canada, but with something this big, it'd be hard to get it into the states. The customs ppl are a bit wary when you try and bring things over anyway, but hey, for enough compensation ;) i'd be willing to try.

I'm not sure how much it'll be, but i know coming into canada from the US it costs 14%, might be less going into the US though. If you're willing to bill it on your Credit card and send it to me, pay the UPS to send it to you, and maybe an extra $20 for my hassle, i'll help you out, otherwise, that's quite a bit of work. Love to help, but work is just to busy. I really don't know if that's that amazing of a deal for you once you've paid all that.

Similiar comments as the previous one: As a Canuck, I thought I would try to post some more information on this thread. I've tried "checking out" online to see what the bottom line would be to ship to my address:
Monitor is $299.00 Cdn + Ground Shipping $56.63 plus don't forgot taxes Goods & Services Tax of 24.89 and as I live in British Columbia, Provincial Sales Tax of $26.67 for a total of $407.19 Cdn, so approximately $US 260. If you can find an member from Alberta, Canada, you'll avoid the Provincial Sales Tax.

I know that U.S. Residents can ask for a G.S.T. rebate, but I don't know all the paper work you'll have to contend with to complete the transaction through a Canadian member. Then of course, you've got to add on the shipping to you with a weight of 68.5 pounds and any brokerage fees. Is this still a good value to you?

I 'm thinking of ordering one, but of course I would have preferred to try to get a monitor that had as high as a 1920 X 1440 so that you could watch eventually watch HDTV on them, but for the price, you can't beat it. Here's a link with more specs on the monitor: http://www.dell.com/html/us/compt/optix/monitors1.htm#monitor

I've been trying to place an order all day. It looks like their site was down for a while. I finally got my order in an hour ago, and my system crashed just as I completed the order. At least I have received a confirmation email back from Dell. I would suggest you try again - and soon, because there's only 8 left!

I also have had one of these monitors since it first came out, and can reccommend it whole-heartedly. Wish I could get another one or two at that price.

Do these monitors have the black horizontal line (Or 2 lines in case of 21" CRTs) that are found in almost all Sony tubes?

As you may know, Trinitron monitors made by Sony like the Dell P1110 use an aperture grill, and this leaves two faint grey lines on the screen. I've had a 15" inch for years, and after a while, you don't even know they are there. But in my opinion, the color, brightness and clarity of the aperture grills can't be beat.

They've put the item back on the list, but there are no stock left. You may have to check back at a later date and see if they get any more.

More information is here:

Many have reported receiving broken monitors due to shipping.. you can return them but it's a bit of a hassle. Probably worth it at this price.
