Think of it this way: The cost of certain things such as food, gasoline, insurance and education have actually not increased at all. What's really happened is that our currency has been destroyed, and we just havent fully realized it yet because certain sectors are being held down in order to prevent the headline inflation numbers from forcing recognition of the fact that our currency has been destroyed by our central bank conspiring with wall street.

If people really knew and understood the damage that has been done over the last 10 years or so, they would be demanding grand jury indictments for every wall street bank executive as well as every single federal reserve board member. A good attorney could make a very strong racketeering and conspiracy case against these groups. And a jury of their screwed over peers would ensure that they all go to prison. But alas, no one does anything because these same groups happen to control the media which shapes our perception of what's been done to us.

Your simplistic logic was where you took the laws of supply and demand and applied them to healthcare to make statements that are very easily disprovable. And I very easily disproved them, because the things that you say are impossible have already been done in other countries. Other countries are providing universal healthcare (and a high standard of care) for half of what we spend on healthcare in this country.

Yes, I get that you think a universal healthcare system will remove all these inefficiencies of a private market and the resulting savings will be enough to cover everyone with all the health care they need.

What actually happens under universal care systems, of course, is that there is not enough supply to cover demand and the governments have to ration care as well as set prices. You know this, naturally, since you're all wonky on this subject.

If you believe it is actually free I have a bridge to sell you. For free.

Well I sure don't have to pay anything per month nor do I have to pay anything on the spot if I need medical assistance. Well, there are some things that arn't covered like drugs, dentists and oculists but typically work plans cover part of it.

As for taxes, everybody has to pay taxes no matter what, anyway. It sure beats having to pay $400/mo on top of taxes.

I don't think I even have $400/mo extra. Glad I live in Canada and don't have to pay that nonsense. Free healthcare FTW.

There is nothing free about it.
Everyone in Canada pays for it...

My cousins, from Canada, had to have surgery in the states, since they couldn't get a surgical appointment anytime sooner than a 7 month wait.
They aren't alone. There are tons of people crossing the border to come to the States to get their medical needs.

Shocking, a limited resource isn't fully available to everyone, and money can help people with more get more in the US. Score one for us.

On the other hand, let's compare the tens of millions of uninsured in the US (now millions fewer, but thanks Republican states for leaving tens of millions without) with Canada. How are all the people in the US who have no insurance doing compared to Canada?

Oh.

So the solution is, spend MORE on the Canadian system so not only the people with more money can get speedier care. Not what you meant to show, is it.

Unlike life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness actual medical care is a tangible thing that is limited in supply. I'll just leave it at that, since that should be enough to inform anyone with a brain why aspirations of universal care and lower costs are doomed to remain unrealized.

Lulz. I guess someone forgot to tell most European countries.

Health insurance isn't healthcare, its a payment system, like a used car lot offering easy monthly payments that end up costing thousands more than the price on the car window.

Nobody is getting healthcare now that wasn't getting it before, only the payments have changed passing on the costs of non workers to workers.

You may have a point, if objective reality didn't disagree with you.

It is frequently claimed, by critics of single-payer public health insurance on both sides of the border, that such use is large and that it reflects Canadian patients’ dissatisfaction with their inadequate health care system. All of the evidence we have, however, indicates that the anecdotal reports of Medicare refugees from Canada are not the tip of a southbound iceberg but a small number of scattered cubes. The cross-border flow of care-seeking patients appears to be very small.
