Holy Sheite Batman! - Qatar offers $100m to relief fund

(CNN) -- The oil-rich nation of Qatar has offered the United States $100 million to assist in the humanitarian crisis triggered by Hurricane Katrina.

The state-run Qatar News Agency said Saturday that Qatar's emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, decided to contribute that amount for relief "and humanitarian supplies for the victims of this disaster."

The U.S. government has received offers of support from dozens of nations across the globe.

Of all the outpouring, I think Castro's offer is the most noteworthy.
I was amazed when I first heard it yesterday.

It would be too much a slap in the face of this administration to accept anything from Cuba, which is probably why they are offering. With any luck they'll locate some sense in their budget and graciously accept the aid.

Offers have been received from Russia, Japan, Canada, France, Honduras, Germany, Venezuela, Jamaica, Australia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, China, South Korea, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, NATO and the Organization of American States, the spokesman said.

Don't be a dumbass President Bush take the money with our National debt close to 8 trillion and all we do in the world it's nice to get something back.

but there are assholes in our country that will b1tch about this ans say that these countries aer doing it for their own reasons, while convienently forgeting that we dont help countries out of the goodness of our heart, we make sure there is enough in it for us before we help out.

I was a little surprised that Australia pledged $10,000,000 but only $200,000 from Japan (with another $300k available)?

That is good to see.

While some countries have not donated a lot at they are donating. Makes me feel better for offering money for the Tsunami and other things that happen.

I just hope Bush takes the aid. Now is not the time to show how big you are. take it and say thank you.

australia gives the most aid. during the tsunami also, we gave a pretty paltry amount, but australia was the one that gave the most.

Canada is sending 3 of it's playtoy warships, and has already sent many of its UHRT (Urban and Heavy Rescue Teams) and relief supplies.

Not much but I hope it helps.

As of Friday, the White House had not accepted any offers

I hope that has changed.....

No sh!t..

we bitch because russia turned down our aid for the big sub that sank and now our government is doing the same.

The difference being that the US doesn't need any aid. We have so much money set aside for disaster relief, it's insane.

so many d1ckheads here...ones that demand more help cause we're the saviors of the world and other countries owe us and others that want no help cause we're the biggest strongest country and dont take help for lesser countries. thats the two kind of mentality surrounding our country,
