I was working late today and got off at about 11:30...well on the way home I first passed by the underpass where I got pulled over last time for 95 in a 65. I was doing about 78 when detector goes off..laser. I get off at the offramp right before the cop and reenter. Score 1.

2 offramps later another 5 o sitting under an underpass Ka band...brake, guy by me flies by and gets pulled over. Score 2.

I then merge onto the next freeway and I've got the cop spots memorized so I just slow down where the cops are. This one doens't really count as the cop had its lights on and already pulled someone over but detector caught him anyways. Score 3.

Off the highway on a 3 lane road with a speed limit of 45. I'm following a motorcycle doing about 65 and he gets off so now I've got no protection. I come up over this hill that always has a cop at the other end so I'm watching. I'm sitting there looking for a cop and Ka band goes off, brake, jeep behind me flies by and gets pulled over. This was a speed trap because a little further ahead there were 2 cops with 2 cars pulled over. Score 4.

Total cops in 45 minute drive home: 6, total with radar or laser who were looking for speeders that radar detector saved me from: 4.

Lucky =T.

Ever since I got my Valentine One I received double the amount of tickets. All from LIDAR, pacing or stopwatch.

Since I lent it away to one of my brothers I've received ZERO...

False sense of security for me...

So by speeding and taking the off ramp just to get back on, how much time did that save you versus going the speed limit?

None, but I think I speed more because I'm really impatient and it feels really slow going the speed limit than to try and save time. 65 feels sssoo slow when there's no one in front of you.

I actually memorize light timings just so I know I have to go a certain speed to hit certain lights. If someone accelerates off the line slower I know when I'm not going to make the next light. It's more an issue of being really impatient.

No, u didnt get saved four times. If you got that ticket the first time your radar went off, you wouldnt think about speeding right afterwards would u?

Probably not but I didn't get pulled over so I got saved :)

I basically had 1 ticket when I was 16, went out, bought a detector, didn't get another one until this year when I got 3 in a row. Detectors aren't saviors and won't save you all the time but there are times like this you definitely know that without it you would have definitely gotten a ticket. As for the false sense of security it's not so much of that as it's more if you haven't had a ticket in awhile you tend to go a lot faster. I know if I hadn't gotten my last ticket I would have been going 95-100 instead of 75-80.

Like I said though, detectors aren't 100% but I think if you're smart about it like not going excessively fast, always watching, and only speeding excessively when someone in front of you is going faster then it's 98% effective. All my tickets w/ a detector have been what I call "careless" speeding. As in go as fast as you can whenever you can. If you do that the detector is only 60% effective.

I'm glad you got home 60 seconds faster while you put my sons and wifes life in danger.

Good for you!

Yes, good for me! I'm glad your son and wife put their own lives in danger by even getting in a car!

Who cares? Really? Why are you posting this? Are we supposed to be impressed? Congratulate you? Kick you in the junk? Meh, I'm going to bed.

how does going over the posted speed limit put other people in more danger than they already were by driving in the first place? if anything, it is really careless driving mistakes and habits, not just "speeding" (within a reasonable amount) that attributes to most crashes. There are no accidents; they always have a cause, and that cause is most likely a driver's error.

It was a joke get over it.

Anyway, I have no problem with someone speeding if they are totally in controll with it and no other cars around.

The problem is that few people can control it when they go above the limit.

Oh, him? When he was younger he ALWAYS followed the speed limit. He didn't even go 1 mph over it, he was an angel. God bless him.

congratulations.

I think the thing some people don't realize is that a detector shouldn't be viewed as a license to speed, it should just make you more aware of the possibility of a cop nearby and to be alert.
