That would be cool if you were single, but for a family like mine with two kids, a wife, and an occasional dog it looks to be a little cramped.

hahaha, i don't think it has any practical value in that regard. Thats like complaining about that on a miata.

It must have god's own differential to keep the back from sliding all over. Pretty cool.

Ariel atom is a 'better' car - but the feeling of leaning into a turn, yet being in a *relatively* safe cage would be awesome! This thing looks like it gets some impressive lean angles... you probably cant get rid of the chicken strips on it like you can on a bike though lol

$40k apparently... too much, i don't think it has the HP to be worth that much though....

I wonder how it would handle hard braking as it enters a turn? Most 3 wheelers don't like that, since they tend to dump you off to the side.

$45k for the base model? That's insane. There are any number of cars I would buy before that thing at that price.

As far as why this vs a bike - with this you have:

A cage around you
Protection from the elements (biiig factor)
No requirement to wear a helmet (i'd never get on a motorcycle w/o one)

I can't ride a bike anymore due to an accident on my streetbike. I got a tankslapper on the freeway and i slid into a guard rail at 65mph. I can drive fine though :)

You ride a trike like you ride a bike... you brake hard BEFORE the turn, otherwise you can get yourself in serious trouble.

Then accel hard out of the turn

mmight be fun like a bike but in the end doesn't seem too practical unless you are single and don't transport many things

Same as a bike. Know the risks, don't think you're too safe. There's risk in most things, i'd wager this is less dangerous than a bike. Don't even try to retort that unless you're a rider. I don't care how much you've read, you wont know the dangers of a bike unless you've ridden one for some length of time.

Actually, it could be more dangerous than a bike. Dump a bike and you can jump off. I myself have done this, as have others I know who have wrecked bikes. In this thing you're trapped, and wherever the hunk of metal slides, you go with it.

If it were cheaper that would actually be pretty useful for people that have long daily commutes to work- decent mileage but more protection from the elements than a bike. There are cars around or other trike things that get better mileage, though.
