WOW!!!

That is one powerful movie. I mean...it really is something....

The acting and cinematography are simply spectacular (and who would have expected that from Marlon Waynes?) and the plot is simply scarry as hell. I am never doing any f*cking drugs ever!

I mean....right now I am speechless...

here is a good review.

What did you guys think of it?

Marty,

Is this film available on DVD?
What about VHS ...did you get it from blockbuster?

I can't seem to find it anywhere here in jersey city, NJ.

Don't rent it from BB, it's edited.
Buy the DVD.

Yeah I loved this movie two years ago when I saw it twice in the independent theatres. Funny how people discover it so much later....

Amazon has quite a few versions on DVD, including a director's cut..

better late than never. I am not a big fan of indy films, but after Memento and this, maybe I should reevaluate that policy :)

Its been sitting on a cd for several months now and finally tonight I remembered to watch it..

I rarely watch non-independent films, because most of them suck.
If you liked RFAD, go rent Pi, a film by the same director Darren Aranofsky.
You will enjoy it.

Yeah it's available on both DVD and VHS... not sure if edited and uncut versions are on VHS, but they are on two separate DVD releases. I've seen both versions, and I don't feel that the edited version really adds much to the story (it's mainly one graphic sex scene that was cut). Of course, I'm not a fan of censorship of any kind, so find the uncut version "just because" but if you can only find the edited version you're still getting all of the story.

Powerful film, for sure. Seeing Jared Leto's arm at the end makes me cringe every time. I thought it was a great juxtaposition showing the mother's downfall on "legal" drugs as well. Sometimes those are worse than the illegal ones.

Thanks guys.
I will get this and Pi on DVD. Hopefully some research will get me the un-cut ones. Have you seen the movie "RED"? Its french with english subtitles. Pretty nice.

Well I watch only two kinds of movies

(1)non mainstream (Art/Independent)
(2) porno :) :) :)

I was really impressed with Jared Leto's performance. It has the best ending that I've ever seen in a movie. I can still here the violin in my head to this very day! :Q

that movie was awesome!!!...totally gripping...had me speechless at the end..actually the whole theater was speechless at the end...ppl were leaving the theater but weren't saying anything about what they thought...had to absorb it i guess...

kinda makes you think about how hardcore ppl can get with addictions on any level...not just drugs...

That is such a beautiful, but at the same time horrible, movie. It is beautiful in its directing and its power to convey feelings and insight. It is horrible because you feel like killing yourself after you're done watching it.

Personally, if I had any kids I'd make them watch it to keep them from doing drugs. I'd show it to kids in middle school if you wanted to keep them away from drugs. Smoking a cigarette scares me now! lol

That's a great movie and congrats on finally getting a chance to see it. Also check Pi like others have said before. It is black and white, but I think that adds a totally different dimension to it.

One thing that gripped me about both movies were their stunning soundtracks by Clint Mansell. He's really got music that conveys the movie's atmosphere, plus he scored both movies himself. There are soundtracks available for both Pi and Requiem, although I haven't been able to find the Pi soundtrack.

Good sh*t man.

One of the most intense endings i've seen. I'd compare it with Seven and The Deer Hunter.

The Deer Hunter was kind of long and drawn out, but I have to admit...it had a compelling ending.

Best movie I have ever seen in my life. Hands down. Maybe not my favorite movie, but definently the best.
