I don't think I'll get in because I'm only an average candidate and I applied REALLY late for the MBA. But it was good experience for when I try again next year.

He said it himself, at my University if you apply late or you are a "average" student you have a snowballs chance in hell of getting accepted to the MBA program....that is unless you are a minority

LOL, I'm an American citizen and I always apply as 'caucasian' since I don't really consider myself 'Asian'. Only thing that could give me away as 'not white' is my name. This is a private graduate school, so I don't think quotas really apply here.

Yes, I had my doubts, because while my work experience was unique (the whole startup thing and the fast track to management) I only worked for 3 years, the company was ultimately not succesful, and I'm pretty young compared to the rest of the applicant pool. Factor in my low undergrad GPA and you see why I was worried. Only thing I had going for me was a decent GMAT score and good people skills, really.

Did you get denied from college or outsourced on a job or something? Why can't you just say congratulations instead of trying to rain on everyone's parade?

No and No, it just happens alot in my neck of the woods very successful Caucasian student gets passed up for a less qualified minority just to fit a quota. Actually a few white chicks sued the university over it a few years back. But congrats anyway.

Okay. Considering that Chinese males outnumber every other demographic at UCLA (including white males), I'd have to say STFU.

And it's "their," not "there," you dumb sh!t.

the school still have to take some chinese for not being "racist." that's how it works.

Okay, I think you need to examine the situation more carefully. UCLA is composed of over 50% asians. That means that white people are the minority at UCLA. Which means that as a Chinese male, I am in the majority. So quotas (which are against the law, by the way) wouldn't help me.

Ah. I see. U.S. Census figures for Georgia

I would be willing to bet a whole lot of money that the major universities in Georgia (UGA, GA Tech, Emory, etc) all have WAY less than 30% african-american student populations. How well is that quota working so far?

And exactly how does that explain that I got into UCLA, where 52% of the student body is Asian, while in the general population Asians account for 10.9% in California and a measly 3.6% in the US? How can it possibly be that UCLA still needs to fulfill a quota to fill up 52% of UCLA's student body!?!?!?!

I worked my butt off to get where I am, and I find it incredibly offensive that people believe I got there because I'm Chinese. If you want my scores and transcripts, ask me. I earned my acceptance there, and it incenses me that people want to label me a quota-filler.

EDIT: U.S. Census figures for California (US listed as well) to back up my figures.

I was under the assumption that some affirmative action programs help 'white chicks' - females. I was also under the assumption that Asians/Indians didn't receive much help, if any, from affirmative action.
