Holy old cdr, Batman

I was digging through all my cdrs and found some of the original ones that I bought with my first burner, the old Plextor 8x20 SCSI. I still have un-burned cdrs from Sony(Ty Disks), TDK(Made in the USA), and Kodak(Made in Mexico).

These have to be atleast 4 years old. Anyone think they are still good?

yep, i still have some tdk cd-rs i bought from coscto rated at 8x. they still work in my 24x burner but i dont even like using em, they have the cool deep blue color on the bottom.

there's only one way to find out 🙂

IIRC, Kodak's were supposed to be real good for archival stuff, no?

I don't want to break the seals on them. Kind of funny that I won't use these but I burn through the newest and cheapest ones I have now like there's no tomorrow. I think I paid around a $1 a piece for these back in the old days.

I have heard that some Kodaks are failing from cd rot. Air gets in between the layers and the dye degrades. I haven't seen anything like this with the ones I have burned on.

I've got some old Verbatim CD-RW discs rated at 2x/4x, and I still use them because I am too cheap to buy a new set of RW's....

old Plextor 8x20 SCSI

ummm......my NEW (to me) CD-R is an 8x TEAC SCSI unit 😱 (old was same thing but 4x)

Obviously, burning CDs isn't something I do a lot!

Who said anything about having a cdrw. It's only an 8x20, no re-writable. :Q 😉

I actually sold it a while back and now have a 52x32x52 lite-on sitting on the floor waiting to take the place of the 52x24x52 that I am using now.
