I live in the upstairs of my landlord's home. She's currently in the hospital, but her daughter (Who lives in the basement) is always there. I work from noon to midnight so I was gone. My brother also lives there with me. He left home around 5p and got back at 7p. Our bed was covered with our Gamecube disc cases (About 45). All were empty because we kept them in zippered carrying cases (16 discs per case, nearly full, only a couple empty). My brother, knowing that this was odd, called me to tell me that. I immediately asked him "Well, it looks like someone was looking for our games. Are the zippered pouches full of games still next to the Gamecube?" he responds... "No, the Gamecube is gone!" It was just as if I was there discovering it for myself :(

I'll be posting a list of what's missing as I discover it. Please let me know if you know of a cheap way to replace it.

Anyway, I've already found a lot that's missing. My game collection, my hobby and passion, seems to be the hardest hit. Luckily, they only focused on the modern stuff but that's going to be the most expensive to replace :(

$35 + shipping Official Nintendo Gamecube Component Cables
$35 + tax Nintendo Wavebird
$30 + tax Nintendo Platinum Wavebird

$19.88 + tax XBOX Music Mixer
$0.01 Lucas Arts Demo Disc
$0.01 Lucas Arts Demo Disc
$0.01 Lucas Arts Demo Disc
$0.01 Lucas Arts Demo Disc (Yes, I bought them for a penny each so it's not much of a loss but I wanted them for the spare disc cases which are worth more)

$15 + tax Sega Dreamcast
$8 + tax Sega Dreamcast Controller
$8 + tax Sega Dreamcast Controller
$8 + tax Sega Dreamcast Controller
$6 + tax Sega Dreamcast VMU
$6 + tax SegaDreamcast VMU

$15 + tax Official Sony PSone Dual Shock controller
Free with console but worth $20 + tax Official Sony PSone carrying case (Made it convenient for the little bastards)
$22.XX + tax Official Sony Dual Shock 2 controller

My NES and SNES are untouched. Genesis, Master System, SegaCD, etc all seem to be untouched also. They attempted to steal the progressive-scan DVD player but they wouldn't have been able to without a screwdriver to access the cable management where the power plug was anchored.

Edit:
Adding values to help total how much I paid (Not how much it will cost to replace as most of this has dropped in price). My brother has discovered more missing that I still don't have a list of...

Time-sensitive question from my brother: Does anyone know how to use or if there is something like AIMsniff for Windows?

No renters insurance? That sucks. Sorry to hear that. Good luck getting your stuff back. Hit up the local pawn shops and check for your stolen stuff.

ouch! Damn that sucks. Did you talk to the daughter and see if she saw or heard anything? Do you think she might have done it? You called the cops, right?

Good Luck!

Ok you lost me after the fifth word.

Are you saying, that the disc cases were stolen off the bed? or were the zippered cases stolen?

Look out on ebay, your sh!t just might be up there.
Then you can nail his a$$ by notifying the cops in his area.

Another place you might want to check is any of the local video game stores that buy used video games. My fraternity was hit while we were gone on spring break, and among the things missing were video game systems and games, as well as DVDs. Some of the missing games and DVDs were sold to a local store a few days after the break-in. Unfortunately, the local police department doesn't care enough about the college students that live here for 8-9 months out of the year, and they never looked further into it than taking the initial report from the guys who were here while most everybody else was gone.

Someone who TRIED to steal my XBOX but left it after they realized that the HD Pack was tangled up and the case was taken apart (XBOX split in two. Good place to look for fingerprints)

So all they took was your Nintendo and its related items? Do you have antoher console that was not taken? Anything else missing, or is this it? I'm trying to narrow it down do what they wanted. Did you know anyone who was interested in it? Better yet list everyone who knew you had it. The person who took it (like somoene metnioned) most likely knew your schedule and is probably on that list.

I find it really weird that they'd take the time to remove 45 cases from carrying cases, and then remove 45 game discs from their cases. That suggests someone not worried about anyone coming home and catching them.

It's also strange that they knew to go straight for the game stuff.

I'd be suspecting people who've been in the room and seen the game collection.

They were not in the cases. They simply dumped the cases on the bed when they realized that the games were not in them. I had a large cardboard box labeled "Gamecube" with all that stuff in there.

Absolutely none of my friends would do this. I'm sure it's the "mental" daughter of my landlord was involved. She's in and out of "crazy class" all week because she stole money with her mother's ATM card and has been in trouble in the past. Also, she was home all day (She sleeps during the day, but someone would have had to walk right past her sleeping in the living room).

See the updates. The hardest part is remembering all the games I had so there will be a lot more coming :(

Have you called the cops yet?

And yeah, if I were to rob a place, I wouldn't be doing it for videogames. Any other stuff stolen? Jewelry, other Electronics, etc?

then have the cops dust the cases for prints. I mean you probably lost over $1000 in games, you gotta call the police.

Did you call the cops? Sounds like the daughter is the lead suspect to me.
