I don't play the lotto (haven't played since I was 18 i'm 22 now) but alkesh urged me to play today because the jackpot was 265 million meaning that the expected payout is greater than the cost of the ticket...

Can't argue with math so I put down 5 dollars.

Matched 3 out of 5 plus the mega... 150 dollar payout...

wow. This is money I wasn't expecting... I'm playing w/ the idea of throwing 100 dollars at saturdays drawing just for kicks if no one won the 265 million.

that is how the lotto works. Its like gambling. You win a little, then it entices to play more. If you play again, you will lose your money. Be happy you won something.
 
your odds are not different from $1 to $5 and hardly even slightly improved from $5 to $100

invest hat $150 into something that has a guaranteed return.. at least buy a bond!

Yeah man, haha I would have gotten 4 out of 5 plus mega if i wouldn't picked 51 instead of 50. Oh well... I've decided to take the money and run.
