2 days after I had my knives sharpened, I was cutting the cheese (smoked gouda in tube form, cut in half along the radius). I had the flat side down and the curved side up. I was using an 8" chef's knife and as I pushed through the cheese, my left hand slipped off the end of the blade and went under. Sliced open my knuckle. Worst effing spot for a cut, IMO.
