Me too. Grabbed a 175 from ZZF for $230. I've seen it elsewhere since then for $490+.

is the 165 worth the upgrade from Opty 146 (running at 2.8 GHz) ? or should I just wait till next year and then upgrade to either K8L or Kentsfield ?

That would be a lame and wasteful upgrade imho

thanks...saved me ~$150 :)

Cant believe noone else has posted this, but here goes:

Opteron 165 Denmark (1.8GHz) - $159 Shipped!

about $5 less than the recent mwave deal. If you do not have one of these, get them NOW. They are a overclock BEAST! The 1.8GHz does 2.4GHz with the stock cooler easily!

AMD is still making CPUs?

OP, nice find.... If only my wallet was fatter.... But then maybe it isn't that much of an upgrade over my 3700+ @ 2.86GHz, yeah dual core vs single core but worth it? Not sure....

any cheap 939 mobo's to go with this?

This pairs up with an Opty nicely: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152

Not the cheapest, but the voltage regulation and OC capability can't be beat for the price...

Not for the faint of hearts though the BIOS while chok full of goodies is a nightmare for novices and people who don't like to fiddle and tweak them often.

True to an extent, but I don't agree wholeheartedly. On multiple builds with this board, I have plopped the in the cpu, ram, and left most of the bios settings in auto and they all fired up just fine. It is a good novice board as well as, with the ability to be a rocket.....
