Calgary got flooded, now Toronto is under water. Though not as bad, it's still crazy. Take a look at this picture a co-worker's husband took. This is what I'm dealing with right now.

Good, Canada needs to contribute more to the great lakes. Also, I thought you all had canoes.

SB collector and express lanes on the 427 at Burnhamthrope in OP.... damn. That's like 8 lanes of traffic + floating cars. Glad I skipped work today:).

Here's a liveblog from the Toronto Star with some epic pictures.

I walked home in the rain with no jacket or umbrella. I was soaked but at least it wasn't cold.

Union station stairs were a waterfall, no cabs anywhere, and the PATH (underground tunnel system) had flooding, power outages, and random fire alarms.

My house is just fine. The rain honestly seems just like regular west coast rain, but I guess there was a lot of it earlier today.

If you drop something on the floor in Union station, do you automatically burn it?

Seems like every time it rains (not just bad storms) that station is flooeded. Makes sense since it's right by the lake and is probably one of the lowest points in the city when counting the underground... but damn.

Yeah, it's the second time in a year that the station has been flooded. Last time it was because of a broken water main I think.

I'm at home now, but my wife is stuck at the airport I think. Can't get ahold of her.

Calgary got it worse than that pic? Wow. My cousin there said it was bad, but she didn't have pics like that.

Looking at the radar, that storm cell is heading right for me. But it is breaking up while heading over the pond, so I'm not worried.

Woah that's crazy. We've been getting torrential downpours here, wonder if it's the same system and you guys got it worse.

Flooding is one of my worse fears. I can't imagine all the work and money put into my basement and house, gone, just like that.

Toronto is in the south, they don't really get much snow there, if any. It might snow, but it does not really stay on the ground very long.

We get less snow than western New York gets.

I live west of the city and we didn't get heavy rain or flooding. Saw a few flashes of lightning and a steady rain on my drive home. Toronto has always had problems with water. That's why it's nicknamed Muddy York. The evening commute was just a mess. Fortunately there was no accidents. Lots of power outages though. Traffic lights go out but there's not enough cops to do point duty. Railroad tracks also got flooded so commuter train service was suspended, as well as parts of the subway.

Since the power was out, all my traffic cameras went down. So I spent much of the afternoon flying blind. Stuff was coming in on the scanners too fast to even make note of it. There weren't any accidents though. At least not on the highways. Just people getting their cars stuck. Power stayed at our studio on in Oakville, but was out across the street in Mississauga.
