I wondered back to my desk after picking something up at the printer and had the weirdest sense of Déjà vu. Anyone else get this from time to time?

yeah... I think it comes from having a hypnotic 9-5 routine.

Yeah, I get it. Sometimes I'm not sure if it's deja vu or if I really am repeating things exactly, which is sad.

Deja Vu is a misworking of the brain where you are merely being convinced that something you are doing has been done before. You'll try to think back to a time when that happened, or when you thought about that, but you can't. You'll also notice how you think you expected things to happen, but you cannot tell exactly what will happen next.

Yep, get it all the time. Sometimes I'll be minding my business on a given day and I'll suddenly stop and realize that the surroundings seem familiar, even the angle of the sun shining on the ground is familiar. Freaky.

The explaination I've heard is that normal memories go from short term memory to long term memory. However when you encounter deja vu your memory goes directly to long term.

your eyes get out of synch from each other and send the signlas just after each other. so by the time the second eye sends its information it feels as if you have already seen it.

thats one explanation i heard

it can also be that when you work a job where there are lots of similar situations you have encountered a similar situation before...for instance you've probably gotten up to get something from the printer a whole bunch of times, it makes sense that two of those times would have similar little details

hrmm, any of you guys have this happen...

you think about something before you do it, as in... hours or even days, and then you do what you were thinking about and THEN you have deja vu.

ive had that happen...and its weird.
