I've got this Compuke on the bench right now that blue screens entering Windows. So, as I always do, I'm running a command line virus scan. Not five minutes in to it, it's already found over 200 infected files, including:

Sub7
LoveBug
Badtrans
Nimda
Sircam
CIH

And a bunch of others I don't even recognize.

Sounds like they were trying for the Virus Hall of Fame there.

Well,

That is what happens when you:

- use M$ Windoze without AV protection
- use an old unpatched version of IE for your browser (ActiveX and VBS scripting, yeah, sure, enable it all)
- use M$ outlook for your e-mail client (please infect me)
- click on any attached file in your inbox

:) :) ;)

I had a friend bring me a laptop without any AV software installed on it. He was having problems, so I loaded in Norton and it found over thirty just booting up before I gave up and told him I was reformatting.

For the computer's sake, don't give it back to whoever it was that brought it in to your shop. I know it's just a Compaq but they really don't deserve it.

Could be because damn near every Windows file has been replaced by a virus version.:)

Damn, it's almost like this guy read the headlines each day and then went out and got the latest "big name" virus. I've never seen one this bad. Still going, and now over 1200 infected files.

Hehe, I'd certainly love to do that. But, I built his son's computer (college kid), and he has some others that'll be hitting college age soon.:D
