Arrrrg, that be a lot of Linux distros, argg.

Sorry but nope, Linux is not my thing :)
Hmm, then that much downloading could only be copyrighted movies and programs. :)

newsgroups sucks for my verizon now. They cap each connection to 15KB/s or so. I get a max of 8 connections. Still not bad, but nowhere as fast as before, and downloading headers is a biatch since I could only download with one connection. However, newsleecher's header search is a godsend.

not last time when i used it. when did they start capping it? gotta be suck :(

It's been capped for over a year now.
If you search google about the cap, you'll see a lot of other people complaining about it too.

hm i usually usually max out my connection with 8 channels open.

Because most providers of the good news groups limit you to a 128k connection and only allow a limited number of sessions.

Not to mention the geek factor involved.

Two reasons: don't know what a binary attachment is, and aren't willing to learn how to use three programs.

The learning curve isn't that much higher. I think the main reason is because there are very few free service that has good retention... and most people need to subscribe to another like Giganews inorder to really take advantage of it.

As for it making it easier for leechers... who cares?

I don't suppose there isn't any not-so-legit stuff in that 3.85TB?

can you try to dl today? they don't cut you off after 2 gig in a stream, but you can't dl any new ones after 2 gig, and it rolls over next month negatively as well. so if you dl 3 gig this month, next month you get 1. tell me i am doing something wrong, but this policy sarks major arse.

Damn......I have Comcast in Northeast Ohio and I downloaded approximately 235GB in less than two weeks (Yahoo Music/MuvAudio rocks :) ). No disruptions/slowdowns at all. Maybe I got 'lucky'.
