Holy crap! They've got heatsinks on SCSI cards now!

why not? my dlink 5 port switch has a heatsink and a fan...which is a good thing, because that baby gets hot! funny thing is, i have another dlink 5port switch (identical model) that doesn't have a fan and heatsink and it stays relatively cool.

Many onboard controllers have heatsinks, and high use systems come with heatsinks.
Most Intergraph systems came with heatsinks installed at the factory, Intergraph was bought by SGI in 2000. I would think most SGI systems also install heatsinks on their SCSI controllers.

My LSI MR Enterprise 1600 has a nice heatsink on the i960 Risc CPU which is used for parity calculations.

ICP's cards actually have heatsink fans (similar to the ones on video cards) as well! 🙂

Cheers!

My Mylex has a heatsink on the i960 processor.....but only because I epoxied one there! I o/c the FSB a little, and the chip was getting hot to the touch. The system has been extremely stable since then (as long as the exhaust fan doesn't die again).
