Because establishments are often named as posessive versions of a person's name. "Joe's" (stereotypical), "Carl's Jr" (the "jr" chain version of the original Carl's) and "Popeyes" (they joke about not being able to afford an apostrophe to correct their misprinted signage, containers, menus, and other uses of the logo).

two things in play here-

1) you have no reading comprehension. i said i knew nothing about BOW hunting. i do not claim to be a skilled hunter but FFS i'm from the south. i've been hunting, like, twice. yes, that's a pathetic amount to claim to be a master hunter, but i don't think i ever claimed that. and there are obviously tons of hunters in tennessee, so it stands to reason i'm a BIT versed in their culture, since i often work with or am otherwise around them.

2) you still have no reading comprehension. i didn't say 'OMGZ HE DIDN'T GO FOR THE HEADSHOT! N00B!' i simple said that it's a lot more humane/makes you look like less of a psychopath to kill an animal with a head or chest shot with an appropriately sized rifle round than to try and stick it with an arrow. obviously would not recommend a shotgun round to the head, as it's going to be more likely to cause mostly blunt trauma instead of penetrating the skull. and yeah, i'm well aware that shooting for heart and lungs is the common practice to give the highest liklihood of a lethal wound- the head and neck are lethal, yeah, but if you don't hit the brain or the spine, they could live long enough to evade you.

i guess basically it's all a crapshoot. i just don't understand what kind of sick fuck gets off on doing it in the LEAST likely way to deliver an efficient kill- and in a way that is ultimately dumb and cheap.

Blunt force trauma? What the fudge are you talking about? The typical velocity of a slug is 1500 FPS or better (probably closer to 1800 FPS). A slug is generally a solid hunk of lead, which expands on impact to maximize damage. It's not a rubber bullet. It's not going to simply bounce off unless you shoot it at a solid steel wall. It may not penetrate as far as an arrow, but blunt force trauma? Where do you come up with that crap?

As for head shots... DrPizza told you all you need to know. My dad has seen deer that are near death due to a blown off jaw. They had likely been in that condition upwards of 2 weeks. Yeah, a headshot sure is humane.

Like other members, the shot may've looked a bit further back than most deer hunters would expect it should be. However, a moose is a different creature than a deer. One typically weighs 1500+ lbs. The other typically weighs less than 200 lbs. My guess is getting the shot in that far back is required so that you don't strike a solid, less penetrable area.

And like others, it is not often that those who shoot at large game animals and see them fall on the first shot, in the spot they currently stand. They generally get a ways away before they die.

Lastly, you piss and moan about the humaneness of it all. Well, imagine 100s upon 100s of deer (or moose) in an area that can only support the healthy life of 80 or so deer. They wind up getting various diseases and can die slow, inhumane deaths. So, 30 steps to their death... or months or longer while suffering from disease, slowly starving and dying until they finally pass. I'd say hunters are doing their job. If they shoot a trophy animal, great. There is no reason they shouldn't be able to enjoy the hunt, and set their sites on a larger animal.
