I am always screwing around with my hardware, trying to get a little more outta it.

Tonite's project was to see if i could get my Corsair VS DDR400 running @ DDR432 with loose timings, or @ DDR346 with tight timings, since i have to run my HTT @ 260 to get 2.6 GHz, & only have 133 & 166 dividers to work with.

DDR432 didn't work. I could get around Windows well, but SuperPI & UT2k4 didn't like it.

Then i figured why not try 2-2-2-10 @ DDR346, since it is way below spec.
I mean, the worst that could happen is that i have to reset the CMOS, right?

Nope. It could be worse :Q

As soon as i hit save for 2-2-2-10 (stupid me, i know), all went downhill.
Reset CMOS. Black screen still. Again. After resetting the CMOS several times, i was freaked out...wtf had i done!?

Finally, i took out the CMOS battery & reset the jumper.
Reattached the peripherals i'd had to remove to get at the battery.

Restart...& hallelujah, i had a bios screen :D

Moral of the story: I'm tired, have been drinking too much Mountain Dew, & i am addicted to hardware tweaking...

/end stupid post :Q

Weird. Whenever my ram freaks out on me a simple CMOS reset works. It sometimes even boots and automatically resets it for me.

Yeah, my Neo2 does the same...usually.

Just not tonite for some reason, & it sure had me worried...

I have had nothing but pains with the Neo 2, First one I got wouldn't POST 2nd one had a fan port blow on me and the fact I can't have single sided and double sided ram mix was annoying when I needed more ram to finnish a video edit.

Planing on selling the damn thing soon and getting one that isn't the spawn of satin.

I'm gonna stick with my AGP mobo for a while (or till i kill it)...likely i'll even pop in an X2 in here if it survives that long.

Until games really need a better card than the X850XT PE i have, i'm gonna have to live w/o a CMOS button.

Damn that's nice though :p

Especially after the hell I've been through trying to OC this Venice for the last few days. I must of reset the CMOS 50 times trying to push the FSB further, finally a beta BIOS fixed my problems :)

Well written. I have had many similar scares. Once I could not bring back a Motherboard.

I  my Asus board. Never had to mess with jumpers to reset the CMOS. It defaults to fail-safe mode if it fails to POST automatically.
