Holy crap tennesseans are unhealthy.

The average Tennessean is probably overweight, getting about 18 prescriptions a year and facing a nearly 1-in-3 chance of developing heart disease.

The average Tennessean takes nearly 18 prescriptions each year compared to the national average of about 12
Whoo hoo only 12. Go rest of country!!!

I'm quite healthy, myself. But there are hordes of overweight people everywhere I look. There are also about 3 fast food joints/person.

Wow...I bet the local food in Tennessee is GOOD. 😛

Wow. I think I have probably averaged 1/3 prescription drugs per year at age 32. I guess I will make up for it in the back nine, when I am a pill-popping old codger.

Eh I think it's not 18 at the same time but how many you're getting filled a year (guessing maybe they're a month long each). I don't think the average american is on 12 drugs at a time!

So are you saying they fill one script a month?

In that case, my wife fills 6 every month.... ~ $2500-$3000 retail value...thank god for insurance....

I don't know what the def. of a prescription is but yeah insurance is sweet.

I found out watching tv that a snake bite anti-dote can cost up to $100k. I never knew that treating a bite was so pricey. You'd be screwed if you didn't have insurance. That's my tip for the day.
