I'd whine less, because I don't get 15 mpg And, it would be worth it to see people in big SUVs unable to drive and having to trade in a $40k car for $12 and buying an econobox because they can't afford to drive it. Whoo hoo!!
Do you understand it would still cost you ~$80 to fill up your gastank. On average it would cost $.25/mile just for FUEL. Not including anything else.

At that point, even your sentra wouldn't be good enough.
It would cost me $60 to fill the tank if it was BONE DRY. I generally only give it 10 gallons (12.5 gallon tank), so it would cost $50. I was paying $40 back in Canada on a regular basis to fill up the tank of my imprezza, so I could get used to $50. I'm not saying I'd like it long term, but it would be fun spending $50 and watching some baffoon next to me dropping one and a half c-notes and hardly driving much further on his tank of gas. Gas prices in the country are too low anyway. Gas should be taxed more. When you've got so many people driving around in big ole tanks it shows that gas is too cheap. Why not spend more of your money inside the US instead of filling the coffers of middle east dicked'aters?

Canadian money != american money. 😉 Can't really compare their gas prices either.

Id rather not pay out my ass to see some SUV driver getting raped. They probably have a fairly good income to be able to afford the SUV in the first place. So I would say the impact would be much greater on us, than them.
I guess I'd rather not pay 50 bucks to see someone be sad.

If I wanted that, I'd buy a train ticket into harlem.

Well I could buy one easier than most people who have them, I just don't feel the need to...

And don't forget that Canadians make less than Americans, so a CAN buck to a canadian is worth at least as much as a US buck to an american... so $40 to either one still represents a $40 pain.

I was filling up last week and it was $1.49, just as I finished they upped the price to $1.53. I went to fill up again today and it was at $1.59. Most other stations are at about $1.63 - $1.69

I think it's time to convert my bus to diesel and have my 250 gallon heating oil tank filled up at .69 a gallon 😉

It got as high near me in NY as $1.70 a gallon but surprisingly it's actually been going down for us lately. Yesterday I filled up at the cheapest price I've paid around here in a couple of months, $1.59! The thing that pissed me off is that in Pittsburgh I got gas for $1.52! WTF! My town is right on the Hudson River! All they have to do is drive a tanker up the river to get it to us! Pittsburgh is out in the middle of no where! They probably have to truck most of it in there! they should be paying more, meh.

Gas prices are much higher in canada per gallon. At some points close to double the cost.

Anyway, I'd rather not ever pay $5/gallon!

Taxes are cheaper in PA, also cheaper in parts of Massachusets. Over by Springfield it's usually between 5 and 15 cents per gallon cheaper than upstate ny. However Connecticut is outrageous. They are always 10 to 15 cents more a gallon than here. Right now cheapest here is $1.55 a gallon.

Geeze, 3 weeks ago I was looking at local prices for regular unleaded at $1.39 a gallon. Today it's up to $1.68!!! :Q What's going on?!?!
:|

OH NOESS!!

That's an extra $3 whole dollars on a 10gal fill.

I paid $1.799 for 91 this morning.

I wish they'd hit and stay at about $2/gallon. People would start driving with more sense, then.

Besides, $0.30/gallon is only about $4.50 more per fillup on an average 15 gallon tank.

Hey, when I drive over 100 miles a day, I have the right to bitch. It starts to cut into my tip money when I'm delivering pizzas.

The oil crisis in the 70s and 80s greatly improved efficiency of cars in America. Before that, 3/4 of them were 7L V8 behemoths.
