I still think buying AMD stock right before a quarterly report is a little scary. But, in any case, they say there is no delay.

Uh, I wonder where the delay rumor came from.

Anyway, it appears the desktop models will only appear after the server models have come out. Does that mean gamers won't be able to get their hands on them? I mean, it's like buying an Opteron right?

Yep, unlike some shady suppliers, AMD doesn't do soft-launches.

They are waiting for their partners to finally be ready to launch Barecelona.

 Uhm, yeah, sure I believe it. No harm in doing that, again, I suppose.

I'm still skeptical about AMDs ability to ramp the processor. Just last week (since then actually, I think) they added a few more slower speed processors to the list of those that will be eventually released. I think the high end release date is still delayed but they are going to be able to release the slower stuff on time, last week was just to prepare for this announcement. I'll believe it when I see something faster than 2.0GHz

Ha! I dont believe anthing that AMD says about itself.

They also said R600 "could ship today" about 2 months before it actually hit the shelves.

I bet we see slow server chips in the 1.6-2GHZ range in Q3 and it wont see Agena or PhenomFX until Q1 '08.

One good thing, if these chips do hit shelves in Q3 the holiday buying rush will likely help AMD a lot financially.

Nope.

AMD has already stated they will produce so few Barcelona chips in 2007 that it will not impact their financial results.

Amd is in a hard place right now. Every delay costs them $$$, but at the same time, if the new chip isn't released at a speed which trumps Intel's best, then it will be a truly devastating blow in terms of stature and respect. I'm assuming they are tuning and re-spinning furiously, to cook something up that will win some benches, because if they don't, it's game over man. They have suffered defeat after defeat, and their finances are in ruins.

If only more people on this forum could see things in the cool relaxed manner you do.
