I was just checking my checking (hehe) account today and saw the balance was much greater than usual.

Figured out I got my biggest bonus ever!

$4736.00!!!!

I'm not trying to gloat about it to you guys, I'm sure some of you get that much or more every year, but considering most I ever got before was about $2400 I am very happy right now. I was on vacation so I didn't even know the bonuses were coming yet. It was a 12.9% payout.

Oh, BTW, the amount listed is after taxes. (46%)

So how did the rest of you do this year?? Anyone else pretty happy right now?

Ok off to the hot deals forum now......hehe.

That's a nice bonus!!! Congrats.

My wife and I did excellent last year. She started selling Real Estate 2 years ago (in addition to her regular full time job) and sold 5 homes last year (I helped, it's a joint venture). Worked out to an extra $30,000 in income. Of course we have to pay taxes on it but we have over $22k in the bank right now, no debt and only one car payment. We both have regular full time jobs. 😀

Exactly, MX 500 will be on the way.

What did I do to get the bonus?

Hmmmm, show up to work I guess. I guess all that overpriced gasoline my company has charged everyone for (including me) has finally given something back to me this time!

Wow Jules that is excellent. I wish I could say we had no debt, but at least our house has gone up over 55% in value in last 18 months. If we cashed out on the house we could easily pay off all debt and have 100K plus left. That is my security blanket for now. Sad huh?

That 22k is impressive if you own a home, have couple kids and no debt else you are in the same boat as everybody else 🙂.

Was 30K bonus ?? or comission from real estate ??

Yes, we have a house and it has also gone up quite a bit in value (we paid $220k for it-owe less though, and could sell it for $485k easily). $30k was commission from real estate.

I'm obviously only counting things like credit card debt or equity lines of credit as debt. Obviously, we have debt but it isn't the high interest, dig a hole and jump in kind of debt. 1.9% on the car and 6% on the house.

Watch out, once I had a similar amount deposited into my account on Decemer 28th. I'm thinking - cool, Christmas bonus, now I can buy that home theater I was thinking about. Well, not so fast, turned out the payroll company deposited my salary twice by mistake. To make things even worse, it took them 30 days to fix their problem, so for 30 days I had that money sitting in my account, while knowing I couldn't do anything with it.

$4736 was 12.9% payout (of your salary)? Or was $6914.56 (before taxes) 12.9% payout? 12.9% of gross or net pay?

I have only received bonuses when I worked in the mortgage lending department.

Otherwise I get a big fat zero and WHOPPING 3% ANNUAL RAISE, oh yeah!

I was told we are taxed at about 46% on bonuses so you do the math. Maybe the tax is a little less? Not sure. 12.9% would be the before tax amount on gross pay minus last years bonus. I don't have the actual statement so I'm just guessing on the 46% tax. I know it is at least 40 something unless something has changed drastically in the last year.
