I'm driving home from work and notice flashing lights ahead so I slow down then realize just 6 blocks from home this home is on fire. Not just a little on fire but flames 30-40 feet into the air on fire. The firefighters werent even trying to save the house they were spraying down the houses next to that house because the fire was so big and the wind was blowing about 10-15mph.

So I sit there and watch for a few minutes especially since I'm an ER nurse I was just being nosy, especially since its just a short walk from my house! And after seeing what is obviously the family in OK shape with no ambulances around.

I turn down a side street to drive home since the police were blocking my normal way home. I turn the corner and just SLAM on my brakes. Bam right there big conversion van on fire in the middle of the street. I immediately check the scene make sure there was no one around and no one in the van that I could see. The fire was obviously in the middle of the van and spreading really rapidly and the van was so engulfed in flames so fast I couldn't get more than 10 feet from it because it spread so rapidly and was SO hot. So I then dialed 911 since no emergency responders were there. Told them what was happening.

Police cruiser came from the fire and I filed a report. The officer didn't answer when I asked him about arson but it was obvious from his line of questioning that they were thinking arson for both fires.

Also, despite the fact that the van was literally starting to explode(the gas tank definitely went up in a big ball of fire) the house fire was so large they couldn't divert a fire truck to the van fire. Definitely an interesting evening.

Update: So turns out it WAS an arson and murder. The van on fire that I called 911 for was owned by the victim.

Since I was the first to call in the van fire I'll probably get a phone from the police soon...
