Holy Crap! (monitor)

Just got my Hitachi CM823F today!

I've been using a 15" HP Pavilion monitor since 1998, and 90% of that time i was at 800x600, and only recently had I gone to 1024x768 but it would only do 60hz at that res.

But now... 1600 x 1200 :Q

The colors are awesome. The brightness is awesome. The contrast and gamma are awesome. The only drawback is that now I'm gonna have to get used to the way the screen looks concave. It is normal for it to look concave right? After all those yrs of looking at something convex. Or something like that, anyway, I had to share!

It has dual - 15 pin D-sub.

I'm not real familiar with bnc. What are the benefits to this connector?

Yea I picked up A ViewSonic A95f a while back and it looked really concave at first but after a week or so I got used to it.
Now when I look at a non flat moniter it's like a bubble all warped and very odd looking.
Same thing with my tv I got a flat tube HD and now regular tv's look very distorted to me.
Flat is better!

I got a Hitachi 823 for ex/galpal for her system. Boy does it rock with a Matrox G550 @ 1600x1200.

Nice man, I can understand that being a nice upgrade. It's SO much nicer working w/ a large screen w/ a high resolution, just so much more room.

And yes, that monitor should look concave, when I first saw flat screen monitors I was convinced that they WERE. Stupid eyes playing tricks on me.

bnc's are a different way of getting the color to and from the monitor
rgb = red, blue, green, vertical, and horizontal. all have a seperate line (5 lines)in one cable
ie barrel nut connectors=bnc

it is either built in to the monitor or not possible

i'm not sure if todays monitors are the same as old monitors

but in the older monitors the bnc provided crisper sharper colors and improved image quality
but since all the new specs for everything i see they also have made huge leaps here too

How in the world are you suppose to use BNC connectors anyway?, I have them on the back of my SynMaster 700ift and would like to use those if it would benifit the picture quality.

you need a special cable most are in the 15.00 range but don't skimp on the cable and keep the reciept in case you don't like it you can get your money back

that said i love it my dinosaur with bnc looks better than a sony g520 and as good as a f520
and i paid 285 3 odd years ago used but all my friends love this old ncd lol

here is a picture of one
the 5 plugs twist on to the 5 cable connectors on the back until they lock and the 15 pin hooks up to the video card
most places charge 15.00 and up for 6' cable i got mine with the monitor so i can't tell you how much they were then but about a month ago that was the price stated in a thread here

I hooked up my Sony G500 with BNC cables <---- I'm in CRT Heaven plus its a 21" monitor to boot.

According to this page, BNC stands for Bayonet fitting Connector. Besides that, BNC is not a cable, just a metal thing that goes on the end of a cable.

Also, RGB does NOT have 5 wires. RGB has 3 wires. RGBHV has 5 wires, and that's what I assume you are talking about. RGB (Red, Green, Blue) has the synchronization signals (both hori and vert) on the Green cable. RGBHV gives each signal a different path.
