I was wondering why Leadtek hadn't done anything exciting with the 7800s.

Actually, i was a bit disappointed, since they always seems to take the crown with exotic cooling solutions, etc.

This is kewl, very kewl :D

How much though?

Damn...just when I got the "regular" 256mb version. You think Leadtek will do a step-up program? :D

Not on Froogle yet, my guess $700.. ( and worth it IMO!) Imagine two of these bad boys SLId? I almost always say "future proof" is a myth- this may be as close as it gets to reality.

CPU limited for a while no matter what, above most monitors, above the RAM requirements of any game......

Excuse me, I must go light a candle for this noble rig.

LOL

Heh- I don't think we're hurting too bad with normal 7800GTXs, but this thing is the warrior.

That looks like that awesome Quadro 4500 heatsink that was posted here a while ago. Looks like the new king, although the memory overclock is a little lower than that of some other cards out there.

Yeah, I was just about to say that.

Its kinda cool, companies like BFG and Gainward that in the past were considered tops are now being upstaged. eVGA has one upped BFG on support (maybe more than just one upped, as their warranty is better, and they offer step-up), and they're offering a lot of good packages (free SLI boards, special cooling, etc.).

Its a good time to be an nVidia fan thats for sure.

It's the same HS as used on their 7800GT Extreme card as well.
Kind of makes me sad I only ordered the regular 7800GT, but we'll see how it does anyway.

$1400 for that setup?

I'll stick with a single 7800GTX and wait till next gen and upgrade again, or maybe twice for the same money !

There have always been those who lean toward the extreme and those who lean toward the practical, and never the two shall meet. ;)

BFG was never on top. They are a newer company. Traditionally, it was Leadtek and Gainward (Golden Sample) on top.

It is about time Leadtek did something like this.

Gainward CoolFXs have always been the Mack Daddy of nVidia cards. Probably still are in Europe. :(

Actually I don't really remember seeing any of these companies a couple of years ago. Things like Hercules and Elsa were known as good brands, and if you go back even more, then Diamond and even Creative made good nvidia based cards.

I am referring to more the Geforce 4 series and Geforce FX series.

I definitely remember back with the Diamond monster 3d's, and Creative Labs cards. I remember when there really weren't any brands. My first card was a 2mb Number Nine Card. (Aside from the Atari).

Eh, what ever happened to Hercules?

Corporate embezzling stateside, sold to Guillemot, shut down with the 9800Pro last card produced.
