Holy Crap.. KOTOR II is amazing!

I'm probably the only dumb ass alive who screwed that game up the first time through. I decided to go lone wolf near the end, and leave me party where it was safe, and that didn't workout well. :embarrassed;

KOTOR II was nice, a bit too easy i think with the epic levels and all.
but still, KOTOR was better. definately play first KOTOR if you liked the second.

Unfortunately, I read up on the story of KOTOR I while playing KOTOR II. I shouldn't have done that

I loved them both. Never really understood a lot of the hate directed at 2.

I enjoyed them both too however I can see why some people hate KOTOR2,it was buggy/incomplete and rushed out too early, shame really since it could of been up there with KOTOR.

My judgment could be clouded by the fact that I played both on the xbox back to back. I had no interim period of hype and did not face any bug in 2 that I can recall.

I only ran into one bug (besides frozen player) in the final patched PC version of KOTOR II, with the second secret compartment, and a Team Gizka patch fixed that.

If 2 wasn't so thoroughly broken (crashed ALL the time on me, at least for the XBox, and my XBox had a finicky ROM drive so it compounded the problem) it would have been an overall better game. KOTOR1's plot twist is almost unbeatable though, however KOTOR2 does improve upon the gameplay elements so it did have the potential to be a better overall game, just not story. But because it was glitchy/problematic and cut short the overall experience didn't match up to the original.

How does Planescape Torment compare with Fallout 2? I purchased planescape a few years ago for $5 but never got the chance to play it. I'm willing to go through with it since an RPG is not something you play for the graphics.

People complain it's like reading a book, but I like reading books. It's in my top 5 all-time favorite RPGs, along with Fallout 1-2 and Wasteland. The fifth? Hard to choose between KOTOR 1, Baldur's Gate II & Bhaal, and the old Gold Box games.

The game's stuck at 640x480, but someone made a mod to play it at different resolutions. Screenshots here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/?p=1826 And you can get the mod here: http://www.gibberlings3.net/widescreen/

And yes, it's well worth playing, if you think of it as an interactive book. Like the Fallout games, it matters what your stats are, as they affect the choices or options you have during the game.

Thanks to all the recent "what are the top pc games" threads. I have KOTOR 1, KOTOR 2, Planescape, BG2, Witcher, and Oblivion:GOTY (all legal, dont worry). I think I'll start with KOTOR 1 and go from there. At the rate I play PC games, it will take me years before I finish all the games!!

Anyone know where I can pick up a new copy of KOTOR 1 for cheap? It doesn't seem that easy to find it for a decent price even though it's relatively old.

Well, I used a site called goozex to get KOTOR II. Its pretty nifty, you put in all your old games and then other users pick them up and you get points. You can then use those points to get games from other users.

I've gotten rid of about 1/4th of my PC game library that I hadn't touched in like 2-3 years like Splinter Cell, Unreal Tournament etc and was able to pick up games that I always wanted to try out like KOTOR II.

Try Amazon used sellers and Half.com

It's also available new in a "Best of mumble mumble" star wars collection, I forget the name but Search at Amazon should find it.

I found it on Amazon but the used ones are selling for $30. KOTOR II is $20 new.

I guess it's that much better?

I personally liked KOTOR I more than KOTOR II. The first game seemed way more polished - the 2nd game felt very rushed, and you KNEW the story twists, you know? It just wasn't as engaging as the first game. There were definitely some cool parts in the 2nd game, but still not as awesome as KOTOR I.

Of course, I could be biased, I played through KOTOR like 6 times. 🙂

Well it seems I understand why everyone hates KOTOR II. I discovered a bug, or so it seems.

I chose the Light Side on all Planets except Onderon and never killed Jedi Masters. However, on Onderon I chose to side with General Valku. Now I'm done with the main quest of finding all Jedi Masters and now they are supposed to be back at Dantooine where the Jedi Temple has been rebuilt (according to the walkthroughs)... but when I go back there the Jedi Temple has not been rebuilt and the Jedi Masters are not there. So I'm stuck now and can't complete the game :|... anyone have any ideas?

Have you done Korriban's cave yet (the area where you leave your companions behind)? You need to complete that before visiting the Jedi Council.

Did you kill the Jedi on Onderon? That might confuse things a little after being nice to the rest of them.

Yes I did the cave. Also, I actually didn't see the Jedi in the room. I let General Valku kill the queen but there was no Jedi and the mission ended.

Hmm, you should see the Jedi either way -- if for the Queen / light side you talk with him, if dark side / Vaklu you fight him since he's defending the Queen.

Siding with Vaklu and being dark side, the Jedi appeared to me after fighting the Queen's troops in the throne room, but before being given the choice of killing the Queen myself or letting Vaklu do it.

You might use your closest save to the throne room, and make sure the Jedi isn't somewhere in the room just not walking up to you automatically.

If that fails, try backing up to an earlier save before entering the palace?
