So THIS is where those crazy Japanese get their tentacles from! I'm only 30 mins into the movie and it's pretty awesome! 😀

I still have yet to see this and its Johns favorite movie that he's done. Probably his 2nd most popular next to HalloweeN (my personal fav). I must check it out!

I'm sure they have, but alien tentacles writhing and poking every orifice? Ok, maybe there's no orifice poking yet in the movie, but maybe the Japanese put ORIFICE + TENTACLE = PROFIT for horny fanboys.
 
When they are giving that guy CPR and his chest opens up and bites that guys arms off I almost crapped my pants.
 
you'll have to watch it a couple of times, you'd probably miss small details the first time. Really good though.

I'd say thats definately me favorite John Carpenter film, and a great all around film. I need to rewatch it again, since the first copy I had wasn't digitally remastered and looked kind of crappy.

The very first movie that scared the bejeebus out of me. Can't remember how many times I hid behind the cover. Of course I was only 8 y/o when I first saw it.

I own it now. Definitely one of the best horror movie ever made.
 
gawd damn that was a good movie. Now we'll see how Alien stacks up to it. Can't believe I've never seen Alien, but saw Aliens.
 
Aliens was a great action movie, but didn't have horror in it. Alien was a great Sci-Fi horror movie. The Thing was also excellent. Another movie I really liked from John Carpenter was the Prince of Darkness. Other great horror movies were The Ring and Event Horizon. A lot of people despised Event Horizon, but I thought it was quite good.

Yeah, Aliens was more about action, but it still scared the shiet outta me when I was young.

Both movies (The Thing and Alien) are classics. Alien, IMO, is at least as good if not better than The Thing. Please get off of ATOT and don't come back until you've seen the movie.

Ditto. I saw Aliens when it was first released and I could not sleep that same night.
