Should I be scared that you're mentioning this before Bryophyte made the August 15th thread?
I guess I would have to be pretty bitter and lame to lock my own birthday thread even though it probably shouldn't be in here

You did mention AV equipment though... so I guess it's ok
Unfortunately I don't really have the funds to buy anything fun right now and still feel like I have a good enough financial safety net.
My old computer died fairly recently so I ended up spending $800-ish on new parts for the one I'm using now.
To get this thread back on the right track, maybe I'll turn this into a semi-realistic AV&HT wish list. Maybe others can add their own semi-realistic wish lists to this thread too.
1. New projector - I like my AE900U, but the slight vertical banding is starting to drive me nuts. It's one of those things where once you notice it's there, you can't stop looking for it. I don't have a particular model picked out for what I would get, but naturally it would be 1080p and have a throw range / zoom capability to fit my screen and mounting distance. I'd want something with a faster iris than the AE900U (if it had an iris). For kicks, I've looked over at projector central a bit lately and it looks like there are a number of solid options in the pricerange I'd call reasonable

One of my bosses recently got a Planar PD8130 which I haven't gotten to see yet, but he had me looking up info on it and more affordable models earlier increasing the upgraditis factor.
2. Blu-Ray player of some sort - I haven't researched this yet too specifically either (research tends to lead to temptation

). From what little I have seen, the PS3 still seems to be very good value with the added bonus of being a game system as well, so I'd likely start there.
3. New pre-pro or receiver to take advantage of all the HD goodness - Again, limiting my exposure to hot new products but again due to research for the boss (who got an Integra 9.8), there seem to be a lot of great features out there that I would like to integrate into my future system.
4. Room treatments - Still staying in a semi-cramped apartment with no real room to put up any decent treatments. I fully intend to do this as soon as it's feasible.
So in conclusion, yes... I've wasted 25 years so far. Strangely, 9 years after the typical "car for your birthday" age, I will be getting my Mom's old car this year. That's quite the present, eh? 2001 Dodge Stratus with only 33k miles on it. I have nowhere to park it around here besides street parking though (which would be quite irritating during winter here in Wisconsin) so I'm delaying acceptance of the vehicle until I can actually have a place to keep it
Birthday plans include going to work for HomeBrewerDude, coming home and continuing to watch Dexter (watched the first three episodes tonight), and hopefully being happy with whatever my gf gets me. For some reason I'm really not into surprise gifts usually. I think this stems from the mentality that I only like to purchase things that I know I'll use. Sunday the parents are coming over so we can have dinner for 4 at a local Italian place and I can use my $50 off $100 coupon from restaurant.com that I purchased during the 80% off sale.
Ok, I should go to bed now.
Thanks for the birthday wishes
