well, i wasnt in an extremely awesome or brilliant state of mind when i toasted my mobo by spilling metal ion laden diluted antifreeze all over my mobo. it got in the socket, chipset, power circuitry, and diim slots (some in agp too) and corroded the whole thing. so then i tool some alcohol (i used like a third of a pint lol) to take the rust off. i couldnt clean under the cipset, so i thought i was screwed. the board woudl automatically shut itself off after power on (it was shorted, so it protected itself). I then suspected the pins inside the socket were rusted together at their bases, so i took the socket off (yes, i took the socket (just plastic piece) of off!!!), cleaned underneath, then let it dry (the alcohol is only 70% alcohol, 30% water, so it takes some time, especially in hawaii where the air is really humid). but in the process of removing the socket, I destroyed a resistor, so I ripped one out of a toast a7n8x deluxe (a whole nother story lol), soldered it on (was a tiny little ah heck that wias a pita to do, but i got it right on the second try (was very carevul)). then after taking some extra tubing (from watercooling system), i sucked out the stuff from under the chipset and plugged it into the power supply..... the fans actually turned!!!! how crazy of a repair story is that? hopefully it works...
its 418 am here and i have stuff to do, so i'll update tomorrow, i promise i wont pull a syringer/spyder on you guys
sorry about my overuse of parentheses (too much math does that
