HOLY CRAP!!! I almost lost my C: Drive!!!

I was installing some new drives on my system...so i had to fdisk them..

THen i absentmindedly typed in:

Format C: /U

after 65% of it was done, i realized what i had done!!! So I cancelled the format.

CRAP!! I thought i was seriously FUUUUUUUUUUUUKED.

Then I went to the C: prompt, and lo and behold...all my crap was still there...

WHEW!

I'm curious why all my stuff was there after 65% of the format was done...

My C: drive is on a raid0 format........did that have anything to do w/it?

good thing you didn't lose everything! usually some moron does that and then gets on here and whines IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET IT BACK?!! after they've installed WinME over it.... sigh.

If it's format, it's still there, if you have lost and found, which I used so many times, even after re-parition, as long as you dont overwrite the space, chances are, Lost and found can find it.. otherwise, if you reinstall and overwrite it 2-3 times, its' gone..

use the panic energy you have gained from this experience to start backing up your data!! Nothing is worse than the feeling of losing a harddrive that you haven't backed up.

Consider yourself lucky. But usually you can find your C: drive somewhere inside the computer's case.
