Not 30 minutes ago there was a head on collision right in front of me. It would have been me had I been 50 yards more down the road.

The offending car was heading northbound on the freeway, veered left into the median/ditch and smacked the car in front of me. The southbound traffic was going 60 mph.

Both cars are really messed up. Luckily both drivers were wearing seatbelts and had cars with airbags. While both people have injuries, I am amazed that they both lived and were conscious after the crash.

No pics...the digital camera was at the house.

Something weird though and maybe some here knows the answer. I immediately called 911 and told them what happened, where and that the needed to send a bus. I then tried to call home and my phone would not let me. It said something like "Restricted Emergency calls only" WTF?

You might have been roaming onto a different carrier that your carrier doesn't have an agreement with...you were getting a signal, but it will only let through emergency calls though. I've seen this a few times.

Neg, when you call 911 they lock your phone so they can call you back if need be IIRC

That makes more sense if the OP was near home. I've never called 911 from my cell though, and I've still seen "Emergency Calls Only" a few times.

Yea, you're right about if you don't have service you can only do emergency calls, but IIRC you could be standing under the freakin tower and have it say the same thing after you call 911.

I see "emergency calls only" all the time on my phone, when I'm in the EE building at school. the Tmobile signal doesn't get through, but the Cingulair (really the old AT&T) signal gets through clearly.

That makes sense. Wonder if they can also track/verify the location via the phone GPS?

Not when carriers offer POS phone deals. K750i/W800i FTW.

My phone did that too after I called 911 for a fender bender I was in. I had to turn the phone off and back on for it to work normally again.
