My Axim 50v arrived with the GPS and I tried it out. Man this thing is accurate! It's WAAS enabled (look it up) so it's far more accurate than my Garmin GPS III+. The maps and GPS are so accurate that when it says turn it not only puts you on the road, but the correct side of it :D

Highly recommended.

WAAS is great, eventually for aviation it will allow precision approaches to airports that never had them before.

Yeah, they now allow more precise timings (ie better accuracy) for civilian units. The military has had this kind of accuracy since GPS was first implemented.

The wife has been getting that GPS system from Avis rent-a-car. I think it's an extra $20.

It's kinda like OnStar, you talk to person through it who programs your destination. Then it leads you by the hand.

Yep it does.

brief review.

I thought better of the software package than they do. It tells you turn by turn, in a clear voice. Much better than Street Atlas for the laptop, and if you turn off the main path, it doesn't just put you back on, but recalculates your position and will come up with an completely different route if appropriate.

Like SampSon said, men don't need directions. Nor women. The truly skilled have built-in biological GPS systems.

Yet another review

I have a 1gb card in the Axim. You need a BIG one. The entire mapset is 1.6 gb, but I just have the Northeast loaded (about 350 mb).

The software is on two cd's and you select what you want to upload. Pretty easy.
