Holy Crap! Eric Roberts is way busier than I ever thought.

The Pope of Greenwich Village and Runaway Train were the only things I ever liked him in. He's one of the few actors who've gradually just gotten worse as they've gotten older.

He was very good with Lance Henriksen in The Nature of the Beast - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113939/

Besides that he does "menacing guy" supporting roles well but I can't think of any other movie where his performance made a real difference.

He is great in Best of the Best, and even Best of the Best 2 (which is still pretty entertaining, but not as good as the first).

Roberts's movies don't portray him as some unstoppable badass, like Van Damme or Seagal. He probably didn't have the skills (and also not the looks) of an iconic action hero, but he can definitely act a lot better than Van Damme, at least.

Being in The Expendables seems to have opened some doors for him.
