holy crap, 44qts of oil to fill crankcase

I was just reading the specs on a 9000 series John Deere Tractor. It takes 44 qts (11 gallons, no?) to fill the crankcase oil.

not at all uncommon. All the diesels bigger than 12 liters of displacement I've seen would hold that much or more. Examples: N14 Cummins, 3406 Cat
