HOly Cow the Move is awesome

Just tried the sword fighting mini game.

Wow! it is impressive. The last time a medieval game impressed me this much was Mount and Blade.

Why in the world DOESN'T skyrim support the Move? A game like Skyrim or Dragon Age would be made infinitely better by Move sword and shield support.

I read this elsewhere but its sales are very good, aren't they? What proof is there it's given up? I have never used it. I've read good and bad about it.

They probably didn't publicize it enough. It is so much better than the wii system. I find it very much more enjoyable. the wii is kinda cute but technically its motion control kinda sucks.

If only they made a medeival combat game with this thing.

First time I used a Wii I couldn't believe what a piece of sh*t its motion control was. I know the move is way, way better. And the Wii subsequently got a bit better with that motion plus or whatever.

Motion plus isn't even that impressive. I used it on red steel 2 and it's just...naw.

PSMove is like what I thought the wii should have been like in 2006.

Imagine the possibilities for a dragon age esque game using the move. I found the bow shooting minigame >>>> shooting a virtual gun. Same for swordplay.

Otherwise, computer RPG's bore me to tears since it's just predetermined stats vs each other.

Meh I thought it was only ok. Definitely tracks really well but the games still suck because it's still a gimmick. My favorite game though is boccee.

from my research, medieval moves: deadmund's quest is one of the better Move games. It's made by the same people who made Sports Champions.

oh, and I hate game reviewers.

One interesting thing about the move is that it really makes medieval combat such as sword + shield and bow+arrow really really good.

otherwise, medieval combat kinda sucks and is about statistical modeling.

If you compare the games mass effect and dragon age, I found ME's combat far better because you actually aim your weapon and handle it, while in Dragon age you just tell your character what to attack.

basically, I'm saying that with the Move it is possible for the next blockbuster Call of Duty or gears of war game to be a medieval swords game instead of just another shooter.

It's true that playing a fighter in most medieval RPGs is just watching your stats fight their stats. But party-based games have more to them than choosing a target. On higher difficulty levels you must manage spells and special attacks, often with cooldowns so you can't use them continuously.

That said, I agree it could be fun using motion controls to really fight in a game like Oblivion, Skyrim, Torchlight, etc.

Not all medieval games are like that. You should try Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, or The Witcher 2.

Really? I count 19 new demos for upcoming Kinect games on XBL. How many Move demos are out there for upcoming games?

19 demos for unreleased games? How many are not dance and exercise games?

Kinetic is a arm flailing casual game placebo. At least the Move can be used for all genres. FPS, TPS, exercise, dance, RTS, art, puzzle, etc.

seeing as how this thread is about bashing a very good product that has excellent software..

the Wii controller is a great device..and there are lots of great games for it.

It doesn't matter how good the Move controller is, it's not a good product of there's no software for it.

One interesting fact: the Playstation Eye operates on a 60 FPS@ 640/480 while the Kinect operates at 30 FPS. I could not find what the wiimote operates at.

60 FPS probably accounts in large part for why the PSMove is so smooth.

I imagine that a next gen Move launched with a new console could probably get it pulling in like 100 FPS at high definition. That would allow even better motion sensing.

I think the PS3 was probably the 3rd platform for Skyrim so they didn't really care. I mean, even the PC version has stuff that they could have done to improve it pretty easily but they didn't.

Razer has some motion controller that seems to operate somewhat similarly to the Move/Wiimote, but is supposed to be even better. I'd like to try it.

I personally don't like mouse and keyboard, even for shooters/FPS games. The main reason being is that the keyboard is not ergonomic and you lose analog movement. Then, combine that with the precision of a mouse and it actually reduces my immersion. I was pretty interested in the Move with FPSes, but it seems to be let down by a mix of technical limitations (game framerates, resolution issues) and other problems like the aforementioned movement choices.

Up the precision/resolution/tracking ability, and up the game framerates, and I think a movement/lightgun setup would be the most immersive FPS experience.

I do think it excels with close combat based gameplay, but still isn't perfect there either.

I just grabbed a move setup and a bunch of games on Amazon's FlurryDeal thing yesterday. All the Move gear was 50% off, and a bunch of Move-compatible games were on sale as well. I spent just at $300, though got a good bit for the money. I picked up the Move/Sports combo, spare Move controller, nav controller, Medieval Moves, The Fight, House of the Dead Overkill, Just Dance 3, Virtual Tennis 4, Killzone 2 (hadn't played it yet) and Killzone 3, and a quad dock pro. I also have a handfull of games at home that are Move compatible.

I figure if I can get, say, 50 hours of gameplay out of all that then it'll be more worthwhile than what I paid for my Wii and games. And if something's a total bust, I can just return or resale.

I also wanna pick up Child of Eden and Goldeneye, but I've already blown enough money this holiday season. I'm also looking forward to Scorcery, but that keeps getting pushed back.

Oh, and speaking of using the Move for 1:1 close quarters combat, try digging up an old copy of Die by the Sword on the PC. Old game that was hard as hell, but your charcter would move his sword as close to 1:1 as a mouse would allow. The game also had really good location-based dismemberment, so it would remove a limb precisely where you cut. Considering the game came out in 1998, it was pretty revolutionary for the time.

The fight is really a good workout game. You will drip with sweat as you are kicking some butt. I put many hours into it, one of my favorite motion based games.

The same devs released a Move fitness game, but it is not out in NA yet.
