I just went outside to change the iceblock in the old dead refridgerator we use to brew beer in and I got swarmed. I was literally outside about 45 seconds long enough to open the door and put two frozen milk jugs in a refridgerator. In that time I fellt what I thought was a bunch of mosquitoes biting me, (its texas nothing new) and came in to discover there were at least 20 fleas that had just jumped on me.

Needless to say I am perplexed, especially because I was outside this afternoon on the porch where I took a nap for atleast an hour and nothing bit me. I know we haven't cut the grass in 2 weeks but this is rediculus, and I don't even have a dog.

I guess tomorrow is cut grass and put poison out day for me. Anyone else have this kind of thing happen.

I would but I think the landlord might not appreciate that very much. I was just suprised at the damn number that could jump on me even though I wasn't in the grass. Maybe I have a possum under the deck or something.

This happened to my grandma. (No jokes you creeps! No-one makes fun of my grammy!) The person living next door to her ended up becoming a crdy. azy cat la THAT yard was CRAZY infested. Animal control had to come out and fumigate the house to kill the CATS, much less the fleas. Apparantly the pschyo decided the cats were too much for her, so she moved out of this house she had paid for, and was dropping off bags of cat food every day. The cats were in the walls, under the house, everywhere... Creepy.

:laugh::thumbsup:

But serisously what poison should I use. I am begining to think I may have animals under my deck since the mass cloud of them seem to be concentrated towards one side, though it is the part in the shade.

There are some flea killing pesticides made for outdoor usage that attach to your garden hose and spray out with the water (a lot like MiracleGro). You can find it at Petco or any big pet goods store.

WTF? Then they came in and started bagging the dead bodies or something?

What happened after?!

Yeah, in our case we had a pet raccoon (always lived indoors) and took it with us to our family vacation house.

Weeks/months later when somebody else went there they reported the same kind of "flea problem" you speak of.

Apparently, some fleas on the pet laid eggs in the carpet, and since there was no critter around after hatching they jumped on humans.

So, it's likley there was an animal around your house but it has left. The hatched fleas have nothing other than you to jump on now.

Well I figure something like that, or that one of the cats that lives in our yard (even though it is the neighbors), or that it is one of the possums that we have around here. I hate to try to kill a wild animal or run off the cat to try to get some reduction but hopefully a pesticide solution is in hand.

If the cat or possum comes back the fleas will jump on them and get a free ride outta your yard. No need to kill or run off an animal now. Other than pesticide, your best bet is for them to latch to some critter so they won't bother you.
