Holy cow! 1 hour of Mini DV without compression takes up alot of hard disk space.

Now that I think about it 15GB where GB = 1000MB = 14.5GB n/m

Yep. But with hard drives running at 33 cents per gig, that's less than $4.50 worth of drive space. :)

That's a little easier to handle than the days when you needed a rack cabit full of fibre arrays to do video editing.

(Speaking of which, I should probably get around to selling off my rack cabinet full of fibre arrays before they're completely worthless.)

*That* would be scary. Keep in mind for editing purposes, an action film on a modest budget will typically have a ten to fifteen shooting ratio: that is, for one minute of edited footage, you'll have shot ten to fifteen. (And that's a rule of thumb for film; the temptation with video is to shoot even more because the stock is dirt cheap.)

Yeah they have a camera out now called the Viper... It shoots 2.2 megapixel pictures 30 times a second in RAW format. talk about rediculous. It shoots 4:4:4 and is absolutely stunning, its sh!t your pants good.
