It looks like tweaked optical technology. Although they are calling it a holographic disk, how would you actually project a hologram without recording scenes using perfectly aligned cameras on the X, Y, and Z axis? I don't think that is what they're offering.

i'll be happy when we get away from the 'cd' format to some other solution that has a longer shelf life and no concerns about being scratched. maybe something simliar to compact flash, just much much muhc cheaper
