I am setting up my new computer and everything went fine, except for this card, along with my ati tv card. I installed the win2k drivers from the website and the new program files. The progam loads up fine, my dvd player sees the actual dvd as what it is, however, when I go to play the dvd, the program becomes not responding. I don't know if this is an expected error with win2k, if it is, I can go back to win98se.

I am running
Thunderbird 1ghz at 1260
Epox EP-8K7A MB
512 megs of Crucial DDR
Geforce 2 Pro 64mb by MSI
Santa Cruz Sound Card

Thanks

Hahahah that's funny as heck.
Sorry not laughing at you....but with you.

Since I moved to my AMD761/Via686B board I've been having the exact same problems with the exact same two cards.

My hardware DVD decoder:
The DVD starts to skip a bit, then eventually just stops playing and the program won't respond.

My TV-Wonder:
Works just fine until I try to load IE, or ICQ, or Email or...then Win2k BSODs.

Before I got the Via686B chip based board I was fine. But no dice anymore.

Sorry not much help...but...
Seems to be something in the ATi Beta drivers that doesn't get along with the 686B....not sure why it's affecting the H+...but the beta drivers on my TV-Wonder are the only thing I can think of.

Because for regular stuff my system is rock solid.
It will run for days, and I loop 3dmark2k1 over night.

FYI my H+ works fine with win2k, had works on all my mobo's, Asus P5-a, Abit BM6, and last it works fine on my MSI Pro2-a.

At this moment I don't even have my ATI board installed, so that is not the conflict for me. I don't really need to use the Hollywood board, except for the fact that I use the TV on ocasion, and the remote is nice. Thanks for your thoughts so far. I read down further to erase the card from device manager, reboot, then reinstall it. I may try this during lunch, but anymore help would be great

I don't have any problem with my H+ in win2k.

I thought I read somewhere that you needed to be logged in with administrative privledges to play a DVD.
What kind of account are you logging in with?

I am loging in as an administrative account, so that is not a problem if what you say is true

It wouldn't really be a problem for me to use a program such as powere dvd or windvd, but I am unsure of the dolby digital sound they produce. I have the correct card to send out the digital sound, but will this work as well as it does with the Hollywood card.

I had the same thing, but I had trouble with the drivers,,, Seems like you didn't, does everything look allright (Device Manager)?

Well what helped for me is installing the driver first and then the software... But it didn't work the first time,,, maybe the 5th,,, am afraid of a clean install of w2k...

:(

Yeah, i did that, I first installed the drivers then the software. The program boot up ok, but then it just sits there and doesn't responed. All I get is the logo to appear in the screen, then nothing. I just tested my system with the MSI dvd player during lunch and that worked fine, so I don't know what it is, and I can't do a fresh install of win right now.

I have the Epox 8K7A mobo and facing the exact same problem with the Hollywood+ dvd card. The installation went well and it plays MPEG files on monitor or TV-out without a glitch. However it just doesn't play DVD movies on my Toshiba 1502.

Hint: seems like it's the VIA 686B problem.
