Is it possible to output something other than MPEG 1/2 with these cards?

Is it possible to output avi / divx for exemple (bypassing the MPEG decompression chip and using only the TV-out / audio out hardware.) ?

Is it possible to output your desktop to TV (PC2TV style) ?

the TV-out on these cards seems to be VERY high quality (at least for DVD).
 
It is possible to output any stream converting it to mpeg1/2 previously.
There are some programs to make it under windows but they don't work with 2k/xp. There is another method using a direct show filter and some extrange programs.
The better/easier options seems using the linux driver and mplayer.

None of the methods worked fine for me 🙁
