The funny thing is that you can argue in favor of this on a strictly pragmatic basis... the city doesn't want to deal with near-constant vandalism. That it gets rid of one of Hollywood's largest disgraces is just icing on the cake.

It would probably be even more pragmatic of them to remove it intact and send it to Trump (maybe in a frame) so they can spin it as "we're sending the star to you for safekeeping by the Secret Service and so you can see it any time you want in the White House." Something like that would remove any hint of politics from it. Not that Trump deserves to be shielded from criticism but there's no reason for a small city council to pick a fight which could otherwise be easily avoided.

Maybe, but I could see that as having a political bent by feeding into his narcissism. This is the guy who had fake Time magazine covers made to pad his ego; I could see him forcing White House guests to look at it just to remind them that he's a star.

I suspect the council could simply say "this is part of the city, it's being continually vandalized, we're removing it" and leaving it at that.

Article is wrong. Hollywood walk of fame is in Hollywood, which is part of Los Angeles. West Hollywood is a separate city. Their city council doesn't have the power to remove Trump's star. They passed a resolution urging neighboring LA to remove it, but it's obviously not binding.

Yes but the targets of that narcissism would be located over 2k miles away from West Hollywood where the star is now. The council cares about fixing the headache the star gives them, not whether it gives someone else a headache. If someone willingly coming to the White House gets the "star tour" then that's not a concern of that politician or visitor, if Trump harrasses the city and council on Twitter for the next N years because they destroy the star then that's a PR problem for the city.

Yeah, it's a made to order target. Can't have an armed guard there, right? Trump properties are another target, easier protected. I will do a dance when he's out of office. Ring a bell or two, also.

Vlad can provide a 24/7/365 honor guard guard & security service. With proper licensing, of course.

Being nice to Trump seems like a great way to lose your city council seat.

I don't like it. Will the Jews and Leftists who run Hollywood stop at nothing to victimize rich white conservatives? Disgraceful.

“It has refused to pull up slabs celebrating actor Kevin Spacey and comedian Bill Cosby, who have both been exposed during the Hollywood sexual harassment scandal.”

You gotta admit Hollywood reprimanding anyone for disturbing treatment of women is a laughable.

Oh boy, removing a star. That will show him...

Maybe the next day you can do something more meaningful like gather together and call him a doo-doo head.

So what? They wouldn't pull Trump's, either, if it wasn't a ridiculous pita to keep it.

Oh, please. It's not about that. They don't need the aggravation that keeping it is causing them.

It's simply a resolution from a neighboring city which has no standing so the star isn't actually going anywhere and yes, the reasons they gave for the resolution were relating to Trump personally:

"On Monday night, the West Hollywood City Council voted unanimously in favour of a resolution to ask for the removal of Trump’s star, due to the president’s “disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country.” It cited President Donald Trump’s lewd comments on the Access Hollywood tape, his policy of separating families at the border, and his denial of Russian interference in the 2016 election."

If it is removed it will be for the reasons I offered. People are so stupid over it that somebody might get killed.

I guess you're not really interested in the details of what is going on with this little landmark, but just the need to comment and place some false assumption about the reasoning behind the action?
