Holly crap, I too wanna work for EBay

To be fair, the value of EBay's option awards can be a bit deceiving. The employee average is skewed by the large awards given to a handful of top executives. In other words, not everyone is receiving $300,000 in options. For its part, EBay defends the way it rewards its staff. Hani Durzy, a spokesman for the San Jose company, said that the equity compensation is reasonable given EBay's growth and sizable financial return to investors.

Either way, I wouldnt bitch about getting some options.

I wonder what the median amount in compensation is?

From the article...

EBay, the online marketplace, plans to give its employees an average of $318,000 each in stock options this year, according to one estimate........

As part of EBay's equity compensation plan, shareholders are being asked to approve a plan to increase the company's options pool by 24 million shares. They represent 3.8 percent of the company's total shares, far more than its peers, according to Glass Lewis.

The options will be spread among the company's 5,700 workers. However, top managers will get the biggest grants -- far above the $318,000 per employee average -- while low-ranking workers will generally get less. ..............

Durzy emphasized that EBay's equity compensation doesn't go just to top executives. He said that 65 percent of the stock option grants went to employees below the level of vice president.........

You do the math. You should be able to get close I guess. Maybe.
