All the sounds are very hollow, it sounds really wierd when people talk but when I change the wave balance to all the way right or left it fixes the problem...but it goes back to normal and certain games force it back to normal and stops me from playing them because it sounds so bad. I have a pair of logtec speakers and subwoofer, and I'm using onboard Realtek audio. Is it realtek or my speakers, or do I just not have somthing right?

Check the properties of the sound card....there should be an icon in the control panel.

I bet you have an enviroment effect turned on....like Area or Hallway.... set them to <none> and see if that helps.

Let us know!

THe icon is not in the system tray because I hate programs running in the backround. I could'nt find anywhere else either. If I buy a new sound card should that work?

What you're hearing is what a phase error would sound like...where sound is reaching each speaker "out of phase" and causing this hollow sound. You're getting around it by listening to one channel only.

Doublecheck to make sure all your cabling is firmly seated both to the soundcard jack and the speakers.

ONE of your cables probably has positve swapped to negative

You describe phase cancellation.

dbarton, we're both thinking the same thing. I was assuming his speakers were attached via mini plugs vs +/- wire, however. But who knows these days?

You never did reply with your motherboard make and model. Since you're using onboard audio, this is important info. Be specific, not just "Dell" or "Asus". Need exact model.
