i leave the fish finder home. and mostly just take the jon trolling motor and get zen with it..i know the most of the ponds/lakes by heart.

i do my damage with this arsenal.not top flight, not junk by a long shot.
book this up and you will OWN your friends on the boat.book it.basstrix just shown for ref,. i didnt care for fishing the knockoffs.i

I've spent hundreds of dollars on senkos. They don't cover as much area as fast as other items in the tackle box, but as I'm out relaxing, enjoying catching bass, and not in the middle of a bass tournament, I'm satisfied with a very high frequency of catching nice sized bass.

Someone asked me why I'm willing to spend $5 or more for a small package of what amounts to rubber nightcrawlers. My response: would you rather pay $1 for cheap rubber nightcrawlers, $10 for gas for the morning, and come back skunked? Is $5 worth the insurance policy of always catching bass? I can't recall getting skunked even a single day, no matter how bad the fishing reports were from everyone else at the dock. "We fished for 3 hours and just caught some perch, sunfish, and one northern." me: "Bummer. We had a slow morning - my wife only got 5 and I only got 4." Every year, there's at least one day where my wife and I are the only ones targeting bass to actually catch more than 1 or 2.

So what you using? I'm a spinnerbait man, probably have 8 in my box. Going to try some wacky rigged senkos this year. I guess it will all depend on if they're spawning yet or not. Should be when I go in a few weeks.

To me a spinner lets me cover a lot of ground quickly to see if anything is out there. Plus there's big musky in this lake and I wouldn't mind hooking a big-un. A guy I fish with for stripers pulled out a 40 pounder last weekend! On top water lures - kabam!

Spinners are great sometimes. I don't have much of a chance at muskies on most of the waters that I fish, however, I've hooked up with quite a few northerns on senkos. However, NY doesn't allow fishing for bass during their spawning season. Bass season doesn't open up til the 3rd saturday in June. ANYONE can catch bass when they're spawning. It takes a bit of fishing skill to catch bass when the water temperature is in the 70's, it's 1 in the afternoon, and 90 degrees outside with high humidity.

I don't rig them wacky too often. I usually go with texas rigged, weightless, 2/0 hook. Recently, I've started fishing that way with a 7 foot ultralight uglystick. It is damn hard to get a good hookset... I miss a few here and there. But when I get a big one on, yeeeehaaaaaaa! It's even more fun fishing with the uglystick ultralight from my kayak for bass.

I will admit I like the chatterbait, just because I can make it do whatever I want. I carry 5 poles just because I like to be able to switch quickly, one of them an ugly stick combo - caught many a fish on that. We use UglyStik's for our big fish, >10 pounds and Abu Garcia reels with 16 pound mono - works just fine. Thanks for the tips, I'm psyched to get out...actually organizing my tackle box and respooling a reel right now. FireLine pisses me off (I mainly use baitcasters, it's what I grew up on...can't throw a spinning reel for crap).

True about catching bass in tough conditions. I've been able to see bass around a stump 20 feet away and that bastard wouldn't take anything even if I hit him in the nose with it. Finally cheated and put some powerbait on a hook and bobber - got him.

I have never caught a bass on a spinnerbait. I used to get lots of results with chartreuse worms. Rooster tails and Rat-l-traps always worked well for me too. Of course, this was hot, shallow, muddy water.

Chaotic - in those conditions as far as a spinner I'd go for lots of vibration, maybe a double omaha, silver blades. Just MHO. But if it's hot they won't chase anything, pig-n-jig works well in those conditions.

Then again I really am just a guy who likes to fish and cannot proclaim to actually know what I'm talking about.
🙂

Senkos are nice, but I hate spending $6 every time I go fishing since they break and tear so easily. If they actually made them stronger than gummi worms, I love them even more. I'm still trying to catch a bigger bass than my brother with my hand me down Ugli Stik than him with his $500 G-loomis and reel combo.

ive tried the dinger, ive ordering some from a guy alluringbaits.com
tiki sticks.
the only ones that are similar are the kinami flashes, which are also gybc
im glad to pay $6.00 package.steep, but i have so much confidence in them its well worth it, and ive havent replicated the success ive had with them with the knock offs.

of course, i know who throw spinners with lots of success, and i think that has alot to do with confidence..becuase i have no fiath in spinners, i am not patient with them and therefore i dont fish them often so i dont catch fish with em, its self fulfilling, sometimes i cast eyes closed and let fate guide me to the fishies!

I've run out before & switched to something else similar in the tackle box, like powerbait. I struck out for half an hour, while my wife landed 5 or 6 more bass. Anecdotal, of course, but I'm willing to spend $6 for more anecdotes.

Also, what I found incredibly amusing at the lake - guys next to me with 10-20k bass boats, hundreds of dollars wrapped up in poles, $100+ per tank of gas (last summer), $100's in fishing poles and reels, but unwilling to pay more than $1 for the cheapest of plastic nightcrawlers.

speaking of swimbaits, I got this mattlure swimbait coming on thursday. I just took the line I had off one of my reels that I'm going to use the bait on, gotta get some braid put on. I don't wanna go tossing this 50 dollar lure to have the line break. I went out last thursday, used a 6 inch storm kickin minnow and caught a decent bass off of it. First fime for me catching anything on a swimbait. I've seen the mattlure hard baits work, they look like the real thing, can't wait to get out there on friday to check it out.
